| yeah - they've basically got "house call" baked in, their equipment for the most part has to be mobile, there're more years of education to get through, the clientele is generally smaller (although *some are wealthy, which can help but), and the hours are crazy. and that's not counting if you work at a hospital, which would necessitate huge amounts of space and lots of capital to start in the first place (even if you just join staff not own the place) |

| I never like when I have to take an animal to the vet, but in my area of the US, I'm just thankful we have a vet at all. It's not an easy career and they don't typically make that much money. I think there's a good deal of burnout in the industry because of that. |

| yeaaaaaah. they were like "pre surgery blood work, bring him in in the morning, kennel all day, he's a senior kitty too (he's only 11.......) so there's that, also sedation, the actual pulling, a teeth cleaning..." and I just went "......yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah we'll 'think about it'" |

| That's insane. One of my cats had 11 teeth pulled, and it only cost me a few hundred. |

| They announced recently they're introducing some changes to vet bills over here! Caps on prescription prices, price lists must be published and they're also trying to increase competition to hopefully get things a bit cheaper. Fingers crossed it does some good! |

| jeri - right?? the office in my previous state quoted like $1100 to potentially remove my poor kitty's teeth because they were like oh borderline tartar, probably should consider it, blah blah blah, I go to my mom's office once we move and she was all "...yeah his teeth are fine what?" |

| Let's talk about pricing between different vet offices. I called three different local vet offices, all within 10 miles of my house max, for a quote on neutering my 20lb puppy. My regular office quoted me $290, called another vet office and was quoted $950, and the last one that is basically across the street from my house quoted me $600. |

| Actually I dont think so somehow lol! I did make use of the alamycin spray when I worked at the sheep farm though for any needle stabs etc |
