I've owned both cats and birds, and I'm rescuing a tri-pod (three-legged) kitty in Tennessee, so I don't have a favourite amongst the two. I love both species lol
Ally, If they were breeder birds, it's possible they weren't fond of humans, sadly. One of my rescues used to be a breeder lady. It's taken some time, but she's never, ever drawn blood on me. Still won't step up, but will happily follow me around the house and chatter at me. My other two are just so sweet and cuddly
Revel, They MUST be purchased at least two, or they get depressed. As long as it's no more than two, no, they aren't crazy loud. They're a singing type bird. They don't squawk like full blown parrots, nor copy voices and/or other sounds
We had nasty ones. Didnt matter how much we held them and socialized with them they drew blood. They are also super duper loud and super messy. Thats just my experience with them
Ally, Huh. Usually tiels are the sweet ones. I have three rescues within my home at the moment, and all of them just want cuddles. Except Zulu, he just wants to sing and sit on my shoulder lol
Revel, It'll depend on how social you want to be with it. :) If you want to pick it up and interact lots, definitely cockatiels will be your go-to. But if money will be an issue, go with budgies or canaries. They're fine either way, lots of interaction or just simply lots of toys and treats within a large cage.
