Yeah if I had the money and time you know id be surrounded by animals. Im a huge animal lover and care for all animals. Though I am scared of any and all insects so I usually feed with tongs lol

Oh I was a gecko dweeb. My friends still call me the lizard lady. I spent way too much money...like thousands of dollars 😅

My baby is named Kingsley. She was a rescue from a hoarding situation, fully blind in an eye. But super sweet. Will crawl onto any hand or shoulder in sight

Beardies are awesome. I had one years ago named Shrimp. I now just have crested geckos but I used to own like. 20 leopard geckos lol

Versa I understand that. I really dislike people who view them as 'disposable pets' gives me the ick

My husband and I wanted an interactive reptile we could bond with so that's why we went with a beardie. I dont hold my house gecko cause I dont want to stress him. He's now comfortable with my presence and my voice and will just chill out in the open now.

You'd be saddened by what a lot of those managers think of "lesser" beings like fish and hamsters

Heck, man. My manager at the time said I was rather "over the top" in the care I provided to my own fish. LOL.

I do agree that there is the occasional employee that knows lots. I was one of them, I've had fish tanks since I was 12. But this was through trial and error after years, and not a five minute "lesson" that everyone else received lol

I gave up petsmart and petco years ago. I only buy reptiles from breeders at reptile expos. Im lucky enough to live by (I think) either the world's largest pet store or the largest pet store in the USA. I forget what exactly. But they are absolutely phenomenal with their animals. They won't even let you buy anything without a list full of questions about your set up/supplies you have and writing things down on paper like the bulb wattages you own

Versa I agree. Thankfully the petsmart employees at my location are very knowledgeable and care about them. Most of them are reptile and fish owners themselves.
Versailles
They do good with dogs and cats, and I'd genuinely trust getting one of these two animals from them. But anything, and I mean anything else, and they're provided zero training. None. They're told to read the "care guide" that they provide (which is false) and that's the extent of it.

I used to work in a pet store. I can say with certainty that PetSmart is horrendous in animal care.
