| Remarks Trooper Algin Sidney Pavatt joined the Arkansas State Police in 1947 and served as a Trooper until his tragic death on September 25, 1948, at the age of 23. During an investigation into a series of burglaries in Marion County, he encountered an AWOL soldier named Kenneth D. Speegle, who fatally shot him. Pavatt's death marked the first loss of a Trooper in the line of duty in Arkansas, and he was laid to rest in Halbrook Cemetery in Center Ridge, Arkansas. |
