Number ID for show stock is my way too, just easier and I only mess with them to show
Silver Melody Acres
I've bought geldings that were already named, and I'd usually just let them keep it and add the rating if they didn't have it lol less work for me, though I'm still lazy about it XD

Then you can write it down and use it for a horse you are actually going to keep. I don't name my sale horses, there's way to many that are staying that recently go unnamed due to lack of time (I won't breed them though unless they are named - they deserve that much if I make them have foals!)
Greenheart Stables

Aura Show Horses
If you're a premium account you can make a brand for your horses!
Silver Melody Acres
everyone has their own way of naming or whatever in the game
Minerva
Horses in real life usually keep their registered names, so any breeders prefixes etc would stay. Not the case in the game though
Fairy Godmother
Ok so i don't meen to fuss about what they chose to do with their horse, I dont need to curate another pixel horse I'm judt wondering if it's different for horses then rabbits?
The Old Gods
x) I actually have more issue when people buy my horses, use my brand AND follow my naming scheme
Gypsy Family Farm
Hi Dulcie! Sometimes people do that to make their barn searches easier if all the horse names have the same prefix.
Minerva
Maybe they want their horses to look more uniform? You'll still show up as the breeder so I wouldn't waste too much energy on it to be honest
