I understand most of the chat abbreviations, even as an "old geezer" but they annoy me

That's definitely part of the reason Buckeye. I think it makes life easier for the mods as well
Cloud Peak Stables
Even as an English speaker, I fully appreciate that people have to write out their words.
Angels angels
English is my first and only language and I don't even understand a good amount of chatspeak

Might be wrong, but I think one of the reasons the chat speak rule was put into play was because of having a number of players that don't have English as their primary language. So some of them were struggling with understanding some of the chat words not spelled out completely. I have a real life, Dutch friend from the Netherlands, who speaks English just fine, but she does still struggle sometimes with writing it, and if words are not spelled out completely, she has trouble understanding what somebody meant

Hobo, it is because we have many player who are from different countries and English is not their first language. So we are trying to remain inclusive.

River Well it does say in the rules to use proper spelling and gives examples with the ones that are allowed.
Bug in a Rug
Hobo Well a lot of the player base is millennials or older, so i understand why xD
Hobo Queens Farm
This is the only online game I know that despises online terminology, haha
River
Angel I think part of that problem is some people don't even know what it is, I had to look it up, but then again, I live under a rock and know nothing :P
