He would have been my first top 20 TBLB since 2016 too
Insignia Elites
I just sold my one WWW because his production wasn't as good as my other one. I had chest pain putting him for sale but Im trying to be better at keeping my breeding stock to what I want for my breeding goals
Kasterborous
When I was actually breeding decent horses years ago I would "cull" by moving them to the broodmare barn. That way I could still keep an eye on what they produced and use them if I wanted to, but otherwise they'd bring me money by being brooded out. That way I wasn't REALLY culling them, but they weren't a part of my breeding program
Merryland Farm
Puck, I did the exact same thing. I bred Amulet (#14) and got mad at his training as a two year old and sold him off. Whoops lol
FirstLightFarms
Athena, I once rage-sold a boy that trained badly and he hit top 10 TBLB lmfao. So regrets, a little bit, but honestly he did good for his owner and I apparently haven't learned from my lesson because I still sell horses that piss me off with bad training before they ever debut
ShiningStar Stables
Athena I usually go with that fact that if I haven't gotten anything good out of them yet I'm probably not going to and so I yeet them
Red Panda Hollow
I just worry maybe one that's never produced above EEE but has decent training will suddenly starting throwing WWs and WWWs after I sell it. Like maybe I just can't match right. And than I'm afraid to sell and end up with 20 mares to breed every RO
Red Panda Hollow
Question for breeders who get multiple WW combos a month. Do you ever feel guilty culling them/selling them? Like what if they end up doing good but you sold them? Does that ever keep you from culling?
The Unknown
Dog health testing in breeding can get pretty expensive. Dog show entry fees can also get ridiculous. I've noticed that puppy mills tend to charge more than breeders who actually put effort into their dogs though, which I find ironic
