I feel like another thing I would worry about though is I live in Maine and its always cold here and I would worry about a heater not being warm enough for a sand boa

Brook, I'd definitely do your research on snakes and then ask any breeders you can in reguards to making 100% sure you're gunna be okay with feeding and caring for them. Theyre a long time commitment and many speices get played off as easy beginner snakes (at most box store pet stores) and theyre way more complicated and not meant for beginners.

Wait I was wrong I was thinking about freshly mottled crawdads but some snakes do eat insects lol

ooo, this has opened my eyes lol, I never got one only because I refused to kill a mouse, will definitely look into that. Thank you Luna!

Im experienced with Snakes though so I know how to feed live and don't have issues. Which is a good thing since my girl doesnt like frozen

@Brook Nope, all snakes can be switched to frozen thawed unless they have other dietary requirements. Like garter snakes who eat guppy fish and for enrichment purposes need them live. Or the ones that eat freshly molted insects
RiverView Ponies
Monstera Its luck of the draw Sometimes your lucky and can get 2 or 3 times cleaned in a row and other times a week or more with nothing

I cannot feed my lizard dead crickets. he does not care for them. They have to be alive or he wont eat them

Gren, I would love to but my Bratty girl is picky and wont eat anything but live
Monstera Way Stable
Hi! First week. Does anybody know if there's some sort of trick to the "Nigel, the Dirty Pony" game? It's honestly been driving me a little crazy - I almost never get past the bristle brush.

@Luna I switched all mine to frozen thawed. Cheaper and easier on the mind without having to worry about injured snakes from rat bites. Plus I can get creative when someone decides they want to go on a hunger strike lol
Greenheart Stables
@brook Theres a humane way called frozen thawed. The feeders are put into Co2 chambers and slowly go to sleep with little to no stress when done properly. Its to prevent injury to the snake and uneeded suffering to the feeder.
