My biggest superstition is taking things that belong to an animal that died (ie dog collar from a dog hit by a car, halter from a horse that died of colic, etc) and making them another animal's, that new animal is going to die sooner than later. It's happened to me personally with 2 horses, and a friend with several dogs. So like London's leather halter is just there now, it's never going on another horse x)
@Ven, my point is if a patient comes in screaming that there is a demon on the ceiling I don't start pointing and screaming too because I believe them. Instead I try to take a step back and see if they would respond to logic or validation better.
I was driving home one night (midnight-ish) and standing in the middle of the highway was a man wearing a white robe. Ended up driving right threw him. Freaked me out and when I got home I called my mother and found out it was actually a common occurrence right there in that area. Apparently there use to be a house just off the road and it had burnt
Its also why my family has a unspoken rule about being outside passed when the light pole cuts on. While I like to believe the things I've heard where animals or someone visiting a grave at night, I rather not be proven wrong if its neither a normal animal or person.
I went on a trail ride one evening around dusk behind the ranch I used to board at with a group of friends and me and one other had fallen about 20ft or so back from the rest of the group when something about the size & shape of a large dog ran out in front of us, it was there and gone in less than a second and I thought it was just a trick of the light until my friend turned around and asked "did you see that?" and described the exact thing that I had seen, there was nowhere it could have just disappeared to with its size as, with the way it was going, it would have had to go up a hill with no hole or bush large enough to hide it. A few months later, I was trailering my horses back from a clinic that was only a few miles away from the barn I used to board at with my dad in the passenger seat when all of the sudden his head whips around and he asked if I had seen a shadowy shape of a large, dog like creature that was there and gone in the blink of an eye, I didn't see it that time but I am almost positive it was the same thing or something similar. It would probably also be helpful to mention that this ranch was built near a Native American burial site, has a old wagon trail that runs behind it, and has been around since the late 1800s (?)
@Ven, maybe it is because I work in healthcare so I have worked with crazy people. I somewhat believe in seeing spirits before death, but not malevolent spirits.
