-HEE Click- he was such a lovely surprise as I was trying to breed an EE foal for a quest and can now become an asset to my apricot program. (especially with my buckskin pearl Sb EWW retiring after this month)
Yeah, that how it will be sometimes. My matches at the beginning of the year I'm excited about being EEE and then I randomly get EWWs in the middle of the month.
San I wanna say the most ive spent was like 50k maybe. It was a total fail. But one of the $0 studs gave me EEEs? xD so I just started keeping over 100 brood mares and breeding to the $0-$1k for the most part, or to personal stallions. Oddly enough, its worked better than carefully planned matches for me🤦🏻♀️
Luckily you can find decent stallions pretty cheap for breeding nowadays. But yeah I get that it's harder to breed up when money is an issue. I don't even have money problems, but when I see a stud I like and his fee is 250k or something I nope out of that plan pretty fast. So I will never become obsessed enough with the ABLB to spend millions on one breeding. I used ONE Sven in my lifetime and the foal skipped the colour I wanted, was EEE and she was a crappy broodmare too - never again!
San I started out only breeding for color! So most of my lines I have bred up from nothing, so itÂ’s a work in progress over here! Plus I am always broke xD so I dont have the 100k+ to spend on breedings, and actually usually only use up to 15k public studs or buy EEE+ stallions
I would define myself as a colour breeder more than a ratings breeder but I'm still tryinh to at least get some decent ratings into my program. I like my WW combo boys for colour breeding, but my EEE+ mares are only for my WWW boys (even with the risk that a lot of them only have one or two living foals since I FR PPP/PEP foals from those breedings)
This mare mom was an EEP. She was my first WEE mare, and i believe I only had one other W rating at the time she was born(an EWE stallion) and this mare sucks at producing good babies T.T
I had an EWE filly from an EEE x PEP combo last month. That was wild! But in general unless it's a specific program of mine where I'm trying to keep my old lines alive, I will not breed any mare to a stud who is lower rated than her.
