Fawn Yeah, many breeds are dying out. Like my favorite retrievers Flat coat and curly coat retrievers, as well as many toy breeds. It is sad but many people are ignorant to less known breeds

All Breeds
Flower, I agree on new breeds but 99% of the new "breeds" are just mutts with no standards that people are breeding for a quick buck. If there's purpose and ethics behind it go for it. There's a lot of current breeds dying out though which is sad to see

Fawn Hey getting on the Convo a bit late but with the new breeds, coming from experience (I breed bandogs and apbt) The reason I breed bandogs is because when a standard for your dogs are set in place, you follow it, and breed for the positive traits they can become reliable geneticly like a purebred, while also keeping the traits you added. EX; Our lines are game line abt, dogo argentino, mastiff, dutch shepherd, lab, a bit of greyhound, and a few more mastiff like breeds. Greyhound was added in the begining because we needed faster dogs as our dogs were mastiffy, we s the dogs we didn't like the traits of, bred the next set a few years later to a lab for a softer mouth as our dogs are all around hunters, we than bred in a dutch shepherd x mastiff mix etc etc. While we could have just had a apbt, our bandogs have many other traits we find important, Gameness, hardiness, soft mouth, aloof, large but not xl or medium, and not mastiffy or greyhound. Sorry for the long para just thought I should put my 2 cents in as I breed pbms(and maybe in a few hundred years they'll become a new breed)
