Thank you so much, everyone, for the advice! I really do appreciate it! <3 |

Good luck!! Yeah I wont lie my other breed-specific sides get neglected in favour of this account haha. Much easier to not worry about breeds! |
Briar Thorn Ranch |
thats good to know, thank you so much Min! Now I've just got to dedicate a bit of time to finding an X or TB sire in the same vein (I really do think I should switch to SH/SPs but I love a good X) |
Minerva |
I've got a wild who was still down in Mvt at week 10, which is beyond atrocious. She and any of my other Mvt lacking mares usually get sent to Anemoi as he's on the ABLB but still fairly cheap, and they often produce well with him |
Briar Thorn Ranch |
well, my other problem was a lack of information, but Lily and Cali have cured that one for me lol |
Briar Thorn Ranch |
Thats my only problem there, Min, is budget! Hopefully as I build up my herd to be stronger (now that I know how to) I can start getting real money from shows to fund good studs |
Minerva |
You're definitely doing the right thing Ro, its probably just a case of building up the quality of your stock slowly and making sure you use the best studs for your budget (that match of course!). |
Alpine Acres |
Ro sure! There's a few really helpful guides tucked away. Some are a bit old or outdated but still relevant ^^ |
Briar Thorn Ranch |
thank you so much alpine! I really appreciate it! i've been searching forums but must have missed the important ones (or not looked in the right places!) |
Briar Thorn Ranch |
I've been desperately trying to match mares/studs based on their training (e.g. mare has a low mv but high strength, I find a stud with high mv and low strength) to balance them out |
Briar Thorn Ranch |
so if a mare is all up in w4 and all 3 in week 8 she's likely to be a stronger producer? |
Alpine Acres |
Ro RF is real factor. In every breeding, there is a small chance of an unlikely rating. So not each match is guaranteed such as WWW x WWW = WWW. It depends on the match, strengths of the parents and RF :) |
Briar Thorn Ranch |
I never knew that, thank you so much! Sticking that in my stable notes so I remember to look for those things in both mares and studs! |
Calela Eventing |
RF means Random Factor Strong as in training, she missed two out on her wk4 which says straight away she could be weak and then she wasn't all3 wk8 which also says |
Briar Thorn Ranch |
whats RF? and strong as in strength or training? (I thought I had the hang of breeding but clearly I've still got a lot to learn) |
Calela Eventing |
Ro I'd say the WWW and EWE are more likely to be RF because she isn't very strong |
