I hate doing nails- I'm always terrified I'll cut too much or they'll move at a shit time

I'm also paranoid of quicking nails despite working as a dog groomer in the past. So I dremel my dog's nails. If I try to clip them it's like wrestling a gator, he expresses his anal glands, nobody's happy. But with the dremel he stands still and lets me do it, and I can get right down to the quick with no risk of cutting it, and then I can round the nail off instead of leaving a sharp point as well. I'm the biggest advocate for dremeling nails on any dog who will tolerate it

I'd 100% say take her to a professional for at least her first time then if you're not confident doing them. Or just spend a little bit of time each day working on filing them down a little at a time.

Alternatively (and I don't know if this is actually good advice or not but it works for me) if there's anywhere with a big slab of concrete you can play lots of tug of war and fetch on, they'll wear down on that. I think I've only cut Paddy's claws once in two years because he spends all his time zipping about in the warehouse yanking things about

yeah, dark nails are tricky. best have a vet do it especially if she doesn't like her feet touched. then you can work on getting her comfortable with her feet until the next time she needs a trim
Whitewolf

Vets here only charge $5-15 to trim nails. Worth it in my opinion
Transformers Acres

Molly HATES having her feet touched, and she's solid black, aside from a white spot on her chest.

and hopefully the vet/vet tech can make it a good experience for her. bring treats!

*getting some proper trimmers

Or honestly just take her to the vet or a groomer and ask them to do it- they'd be quite happy to and then you've got some peace of mind then
Gaelic Gladiacres
04:05:10 Gladius
ok. it should be doable with some good scissors but can be far more difficult because they're bigger. I'd definitely recommend getting some at some point, but probably like min said using a file is the best (and safest) shot for now

oooh a file's a good shout min

if you do have propper clippers then just be sure you're trimming at somewhat of an angle so it doesn't clip the blood vessel in the claw. look for all the paler keratin and avoid the darker thread in the middle higher up

i have a dog who haaates his feet being touched so we've gotten to him laying down comfortably on the couch, with his paws off the edge, and i go one at a time and treat with peanut butter between. every clip gets a peanut butter reward. he usually yanks his feet for the first few min so i have to hold him tight but after a nail or two, he's good until the next time lol

And if she has black claws, keep some wound powder at hand just in case you catch the quick. I'm always terrified I'll get my boys by accident but it hasn't happened so far

Get some proper dog nail clippers- you can get ones with guards on that help to not cut too far up, although honestly I found they just got in the way and went on vibes. If they're sharp but not actually long you can use a nail file to smoothen them a bit- that was advice my vet gave me when Norm was very teeny and making me bleed with his little needle feet every day xD
