Actually, if I could be a lawyer, I would be the type of lawyer that represents tenants with crappy landlords. When I was in college I had one who broke all of her own rules so many times and never fixed any of the broken things, just gaslit my roommates and me until eventually we moved out of the house. One of my roommates had a family friend who was a lawyer that was semi-retired but took these kinds of cases because it made her so happy to help and serve justice to the really bad landlords. So I would do that.

and the worst thing is if you somehow win despite the client being guilty- they still just go free, you did your job

Im leaning towards being a Lawyer but if I end up choosing Cardiology, i'll keep that in mind

You could try reaching out to a clinic or hospital to ask if they do shadowing. You might not shadow the actual cardiologist but maybe their PA. The hospital where I worked after I graduated had a summer shadowing/volunteer program for high school students interested in the medical field. It seemed like a good program and I actually wrote a letter of rec for one of them as she just applied to PA school this year!

as a corrections officer for 2.5 years from a decently sized town. a few people are innocent but a lot of them have absolutely done what they're accused of

I just wouldn't be able to defend someone who was guilty and didn't feel any type of remorse. Like you help get them free of charges just for them to not learn a lesson and go back out into the community to commit another crime
