HOA is a home owners association. They are SUPPOSED to make that all homes in a community are uniform, well maintained, etc. But a lot of HOA abuse their powers.

Issy, the HOA is the organization that creates and enforces the rules for your neighborhood. They like to keep properties taken care of and keep home values up. The problem is that they are very controlling and won't let you do many things with your property. You have to ask them for permission to do anything with your yard.

I am getting ready to plant a clover lawn in the back yard though! I am hoping it survives the dogs more then grass does
Cloverleaf Castle
good thing about grow bags like Eve suggested, is they are low investment, so if you get told to get rid of them you wont be losing too much work/money

Clover, gardening is a learning experience lol. There's stuff I struggle to grow and always keep trying to figure it out. It's challenging, that's for sure.

I have ruffled feathers so I don't know how well they would take me asking anything sadly The main woman that runs it hates my dogs
Cloverleaf Castle
Our HOA at least won't do anything about things in the back yard, they are usually more concerned with keeping up the curb appeal out front
Cadence Farms
You can ask the HOA if you can have a garden. They shouldn't really have a problem with it. Another option is to get some grow bags and do container gardening.

ew, HOAs. my parents were lucky that the property we ended up getting some odd years ago specifically already fought to stay out of the local HOA lol
Cloverleaf Castle
I love my garden. It took a few years to get the hang of it, but now i get lots of veg from it (10 years in lol)
Cadence Farms
Your neighbors sound judgey. It's your property, do what you like with it, unless there is an HOA.
The Feral Equine
I am also sure that if I put a garden in the neighbors might loose it. They don't like my dog space I have created for my girls
