yeah training ponies is a tough prospect, since you need such a small rider but one who's confident and knowledgeable to give them the miles they need

...Yeah. I've seen too many horses broken down for the "anything is possible" mentality.
El Cuco
Those kind of long lasting problems is exactly why I'm trying to baby-proof one of our ponies so I can lease or sell him to someone smaller than me, probably a kid. Would hate to see chronic pain or anything of the sort just because he's too small for me.

cuco awwwww, yeah forever homes are so important <3 we had one have basically a stroke and we're working on getting him the best care we can, it was super scary but he's doing incredible and such a little puppy personality
Slow Stream Stables
My favorite part about having new horses is getting a saddle fitted, its so weird lol
E.T. Eventing
Especially upper level eventers. You'll see them go through a trot up clearly not 100% and vets who are in kahoots will pass them anyway.

void - yes, obviously each horse is different and has to be taken in the totality of their circumstance. all I was saying is literally anything could be possible, no matter how small that is, because living creatures constantly upend common or long-held beliefs about what is possible. Teddy is a case in point
The Old Gods
e_e Rocky still has hoof issues/back problems from having too much weight riding him
E.T. Eventing
Void - Yes. I have seen far too many times where people claim that they are "putting the welfare of the horse first" and clearly that is not the case. They'd rather run them full with painkillers than retire them and see them as having value beyond simply existing
Gaelic Gladiacres
cuco awwww that's so sweet! brook - yeah sometimes they go totally different directions than you expect. it's kinda fun to find out where each horse's strengths are!
El Cuco
Lol, my supposed "eventing prospect" can have the wind blow on him too harsh and cause a health issue. He is definitely taking it easy now instead of doing what I'd hoped. But he was the first foal I ever raised and he'll always be my little baby, so even if I never get him rideable, he'll be staying with me.

No, she doesn't put her over super high jumps just not ground poles and she makes sure she gets anything she needs before and after she jumps her with her other horses.
The Old Gods
But I've also dealt with too many horses with health problems due to doing tasks they weren't designed for
Stormsong Manor
Please don't talk about disputes or issues with other players, named or unnamed. You can contact staff if someone has possibly scammed you
The Old Gods
I'd still be very wary of putting a small horse over large jumps. That's a lot of weight/force to be coming down on small bones/joints
