| I work for a company who does not allow call ins, I am required to have 40 hours at least on my time card each week. So if I get sick I have to use sick time or PTO. But I also have like five weeks of PTO, holiday time, and my company adds one week of PTO to my annual amount for sick time. |

| There are some places you can just call out, you won't be paid. But you also may be faced with disciplinary action depending on how frequently you do it. |

| Yea that's not allowed here, if I want to be paid on my sick day I can use my vacation days against it , but that's completely separate. Your vacation days are given by law untouchable |

| only get a certain number of days off per year. A lot of jobs combine sick days with time off. So, if you need to take time off if you're sick, you eat into your vacation time. |

| I didn't ask either. It was pretty much "I'm sick, shouldn't be around people. Thanks" which she responded with "can't find anyone to replace you" and a snotty ass response about needing to be in Saturday and sunday 😠|

| Well, not the case anymore. They can deny your request, write you up, or fire you for being absent. This, of course, assumes you have the sick days or time off to use |

| When I was too ill to go to work, I'd call in sick of course and tell my boss I wasn't coming in. I never asked if I could, as my health and those I'd be working with, aren't up to his decision. It was always...my call. |
