Chamberlin Manor |
I don't know how common it is for a mare to not wax or drip before foaling but we had one that had a bag but showed no signs, couple hours later a baby we weren't expecting for another week. |
Chamberlin Manor |
I'd assume so as well, I was reading that a tumor in the pituitary gland causes the hormonal imbalances but since they took her ovaries I wonder if she had more than one? Poor thing. |
Morning Glory Farms |
We have a 30 year old ex broodie that produces milk every spring soon as we start getting abbies lol |
The Old Gods |
The print out from the vet specifically says mass, so I'm assuming they found something |
Chamberlin Manor |
I was fascinated by that and was doing some reading, apparently many things can cause them to continue to lactate. lol |
Wisteria Run Farm |
Pretty sure a hormone imbalance can cause constant lactation, so maybe they thought medication would help first |
Chamberlin Manor |
I was gonna say it could've formed over time and wasn't present on any scans/checks. |
Morning Glory Farms |
Im gonna guess that they thought the issues with her teats would be fixed if she didnt have to be on regumate |

Void Ahh alright, was just wondering because I had a old wesh pony mare when I was a kid who was producing milk without being bred and the vet said it was from Cushing's disease;) |
Bioshock Manor |
So she had just ovaries removed then a second surgery for mastectomy? Why not do all at one time? |
The Old Gods |
Outside of the hormone issues resulting from having her ovaries out, but that's handled with some supplements |
