I live in the south so our normal humidity is around 50-60% which is what most of my reptiles like. For the ball pythons I just keep a nice thick layer of substrate that holds moisture and keep it wet, along with the water bowl full, and you can spray it down as needed. But you want a thick layer of substrate anyways especially if you do get a corn because they love to burrow around in it. I like to use a mix of ecoearth and some woodchip substrate like reptibark, or forest floor is really good too. And even add in some moss or a bit of sand helps hold moisture too. If you have a super dry house it may help to cover alot of the ventilation on the enclosure also. My frog has almost no ventilation except where the heat lamp is

@Angels, just curious, do you have issues keeping up with humidity? I live in the desert so getting high humidity species (like a ball, even a corn) sort of scares me. >.<

Some of them are crazy if they aren't handled as babies enough. My one female will try to take your finger off lol but for the most part they are very chill
They are more chill than crested geckos in my opinion

I've always thought day geckos were pretty! How interactive are gargoyle geckos? Are they more decoration than handeable?

I breed gargoyles

A girl in my class breeds Madagascar day geckos and I traded her three of my gargoyle babies for three of her babies! They are so tiny and green!

Remind me what kind of geckos you breed.

@Angels, I will probably go back in the future to make sure that is the snake I want, but just thought I would chat with another reptile enthusiast too! ;)

Thats awesome that you got to do that and see which one you like better! The more research the better!

@Angels, I also went to a reptile room recently and got to hold both a ball python and a corn snake. I kind of enjoyed having the corn snake slither all over me.

Ahh you'll be fine. The babies aren't very strong so they can't open a lid as easily lol. But if you are worried about it maybe get a juvenile or sub adult instead of a hatchling

@Angels, lol, I am mostly worried about getting a thin/tiny baby that can fit through the tiniest of gaps.

Ball pythons are way more of escape artists than corn snakes lol just make sure you keep the enclosure locked. And if it is a regular tank with a screen lid tou can buy metal latches to keep it secureb

@Angels, corns eat better too and their humidity/heating sounds easier. My biggest fear of getting a corn though is having it escape.

Ahh yeah that makes sense. Then you probably would want a cornsnake or even a kingsnake
They are way more active. Ball pythons can be active but it is more at night when it is dark

@Angels, I like the idea of being able to see my snake roam their enclosure more frequently than a ball python would.
