Oddly specific situation, but the same thing applies. Don't buy pets if you can't afford the proper care

Well what if it was a poorer family, and it was their daughers birthday and they usually can't afford anything nice but this one time they can. And they want to make their daughter happy so they take her to the pet store and let her pick a fish or something, they may not be taking care of it the best but they are doing something.

I'd recommend buying a new pair at that point, you can find Skullcandy at walmarts. That's what ive used for a couple years now and they work really well and hold a very long charge, they're only around 19-20 dollars.

Ven on your note about social animals being kept alone - individual turnout breaks my heart :( At so many places round here it’s the only option, but just feels wrong to me. Appreciate this chat is about smaller pets, but got me thinking!

is there a way to fix an earbud that doesnt charge...just 1? Such an annoying thing with wireless earbuds now..

I get wanting to rescue an animal and all but if you're going to do it make sure its living conditions are better than what they were before. At the very least educate yourself, its just as bad as having it rot in a store.

Not trying to brag at all, but I've poured a lot of money into enclosures and such for my pets and they're much happier. While I kind of get the whole wanting to rescue pets from chain pet stores, most who do it are very inexperienced. It's one thing to rescue an animal and have it thrive with its new conditions, but most who "rescue" pets really do just toss them in a little tank without proper care.

When I got my first ferret way back, no one even mentioned having them in bonded pairs, which is super important

I also constantly see social animals like guinea pigs being kept alone. Like they're not under enough stress already

I have such a petty problem with people who "rescue" animals from chain pet stores only to put them in more sub-par conditions. I see it especially with the bettas and other fish, it's so infuriating. Especially to watch them claim they're doing so much better than the pet store and at least they aren't in a tiny cup anymore. As if 5 litres of straight tap water and a little plastic plant is any better.

They keep their poor pets in such horrible conditions, my bearded dragon was super ill when I rescued him from a PetSmart. And my pink toe tarantula was EXTREMELY dehydrated when I bought her from the same store, I try not to get them from pet stores like those because its funding them, but I feel so awful for the poor little critters.

And if you're really working there for the love of the animals then no you're not because they're in god awful conditions
