In NY it is a requirement that gap is included in loans, so it isn't offered under insurance.
Fossil's Dreams
OHhhhh gotcha! Some banks make you, some don't last time I checked
Jericho Stables
Uninsured liability is as it sounds, the other party does not carry insurance. There is also Underinsured, which is for example they carry state minimums and it is not enough to cover the loss.
Jericho Stables
In the event of a total loss it covers the difference between what you owe on your loan and the difference your vehicle is valued at at the time of the loss. For example, your vehicle is valued at 10k but you owe 15k on it, you would still need to pay out of pocket that 5k. But gap coverage would cover that 5k

ah, but it's also been 15 years since I owned a car. Gap coverage? Is that the same as uninsured driver?
Jericho Stables
"Full coverage" isn't a real term in insurance. And what people consider "full coverage" does not usually include gap coverage.

Im pretty sure I have full coverage. Im not entirely sure though as its been a minute since I looked at it.
Fossil's Dreams
Any car I've ever gotten used (allofthem lol) with a loan, I was required to carry full coverage until it was paid off
Jericho Stables
wild, you need to wait 48 hours from your last one ending to start another one
Jericho Stables
Never mind you basically answered that lol. Likely you wouldn't have gap through your insurance if it was purchased used with a prior loan. But it is possible you have it through your loan.
Black Dragon Stable
I gotta go. Maintenance will be here shortly. If you can, I'd recommend a hot shower or soak. Epsome salt if you go the soak route. You will probably be really sore tomorrow.
