yes, cancers and pyometras in dogs/cats alone is enough reason to spay them haha
FirstLightFarms

Some mares have painful heats, sometimes stallions get loose, sometimes genetics just shouldn't be passed on. So many reasons to spay a mare. Just seems like a bonkers argument

so not, you shouldn't just "spay your mare" without a reason... and a vet shouldn't just "spay a mare" without a reason

Our Rottweiler developed womb cancer due to not being fixed nor bred. We didn’t know at the time that they could develop issues with their womb if they aren’t being bred.

the complications from spaying mares isn't worth it unless medically necessasry

Girl what?? If you don't plan on breeding an animal, get it fixed. Why is that unethical or questionable
Komorebi
03:20:58 Jazz
being a stallion just adds more unpredictability to it
Komorebi
03:17:28 Jazz
horses in general with poor training aren't safe
Morning Glory Farms
03:16:20 Terici/Dino/Trish
theres also mares out there that are not safe for the general public, Ive met more rank mares than I have stallions, and I have been in the breeding business for over a decade at this point
Komorebi
03:15:11 Jazz
no one questions gelding stallions because stallions are generally not safe for a majority of the public. But even they should get a presurgical exam to ensure their safety.... and as an owner it is up to you to make sure you have a vet you trust
Komorebi
03:13:58 Jazz
sure, you can find an unethical vet with the means if you want something done bad enough
Morning Glory Farms
03:13:09 Terici/Dino/Trish
same way noone questions gelding stallions, its so widely accepted that if they have the money to put into the surgery noones gonna question doing it.
Komorebi
03:12:17 Jazz
so yes, otherwise we wouldn't do presurgical exams
Komorebi
03:11:50 Jazz
we have declined spaying/neutering if it was not in the animal's best interest to do so
Morning Glory Farms
03:10:18 Terici/Dino/Trish
do you question when you spay/neuter a dog/cat/rat ect ect ect?
