Void Don't forget all of the loopholes, >-< |
Ashcroft Park Stud |
I wanted to adopt a cat, but the cat charities here (UK) have completely unrealistic requirements. Like, constant access to outdoors and a fully cat proofed garden. Not happening. So I had no choice to buy, got my ragdoll from a lovely breeder - and she’s an angel. |

and than they require certain vaccinations that you also have to pay for. |

Rescues: You need to pay absurd costs to adopt Rescues: Why doesn't anyone ever adopt? |
Elite Colours |
Often times at the shelter near my parents, the dogs and cats are sent out to rescues before anyone has a chance to adopt, especially if they're a desirable type or young (<2) |
Haloed Legends |
Oh yeah at our shelter it costs at least $150 to adopt a cat. Dogs are like $300 |
God is Mighty Stable |
I also know that shelters in my area don't allow dogs to go to working homes, like LGD, Herding, & Hunting |
The Old Gods |
On top of things, the rescue was wanting $2-300 for their small breed terriers. Mom just gave up and got a chi/doxi mix off craig's list lmfao |

What Void said. Plus my thoughts. There are also some amazing breeders, who have great, well cared for, well bred dogs |
MakeEm Fancy |
Thank you! He was on the at risk list of being euthanized. Im so glad we adopted him @Hazard |

Mom tried to adopt about 10 years ago. Rescue wanted vet info (ok, fine), financial info, number of animals, ability to just show up unannounced for inspections, and ultimately declined mom for having too many animals. Duh. Hobby farm. |

Paddy would probably slit my throat if someone promised him a bit of cheese but that's ok |

Norm's only little but he makes a good guard dog. A bit too good most of the time lol, I'm trying to get him to chill out a bit |
Jericho Stables |
I've also been looking at GSD breeders and some of them have requirements in line with rescues. It's just been a very frustrating process. |
The Old Gods |
It's typically cheaper and less hassle to just buy an animal than going through a rescue |
Fairy Valley Stables |
Jericho Absolutely and I used to work at a shelter (I'm in New Zealand). So many of the requirements are absurd and beyond what the average person who could offer an amazing home could reach |
