@Ven Thank You:)

It's actually pretty funny. He'll go and sulk at mom if I discipline him
Ranch Lands Training
I started my jumper under saddle at 3 and jumped at 4 and was jumping a meter maybe 1.10 at 5. My 4 year old right now was only started last May and has been in super slow work. She spent the summer pasture/fence checking and then moved into arena work this winter

Rocky is really mom's horse. But I help her out with him in terms of training
Stormsong Manor
Lots of people in the Western showing world especially who like to come at me with that one
Gaelic Gladiacres
completely agree, 3+ at least. 2, 2.5 can get accustomed to tack and do groundwork but no rider. and some really could use even another year, and only light work until like 5
Ranch Lands Training
I recently saw a trainer that a somewhat respected post that there is no science showing that starting 2 year olds is bad for them 🫠At 2 I'll do throw a saddle on if they seem mentally ready for it and do ground work (not lunging). But I'm not sitting on them until they are 3 minium
The Old Gods
I like the idea of getting them used to having stuff on their back at 2 or 3. Light weight saddle. Pop it on, take it off, get them used to the girth. But actually getting on them? hell no
El Cuco
I honestly love the baby brain. They can be a handful but they're entertaining at times. I'm glad he wound up in your care, sounds much better for him.
Stormsong Manor
Maybe a hot take here but I will die on the hill of not starting a horse under saddle with rider until they're at least 3, and they're still babies at 3.
The Old Gods
Yeah, thinking Rocky was maybe a two year old? He was a baby. Hasn't been ridden since he got here, so he's getting time to grow up and mature. He's really a sweet boy, but he still has the baby short attention span
El Cuco
That's awful. My old scronny Arab gal was bigger than that, and my dad is about the same size and rising western. It was a fat "no" when he wanted to ride her. Poor horse.
