| Often times at the shelter near my parents, the dogs and cats are sent out to rescues before anyone has a chance to adopt, especially if they're a desirable type or young (<2) |

| On top of things, the rescue was wanting $2-300 for their small breed terriers. Mom just gave up and got a chi/doxi mix off craig's list lmfao |

| Mom tried to adopt about 10 years ago. Rescue wanted vet info (ok, fine), financial info, number of animals, ability to just show up unannounced for inspections, and ultimately declined mom for having too many animals. Duh. Hobby farm. |

| Jericho Absolutely and I used to work at a shelter (I'm in New Zealand). So many of the requirements are absurd and beyond what the average person who could offer an amazing home could reach |

| I agree Jericho! I worked for a humane society for a while and I was unable to adopt cause I had an intact female dog because I chose to do a delayed spay |
