Faithful Stables
I think I would lose it if my mare went 15 months LOL
Slow Stream Stables
I just searched it up and the longest a mare has ever been in foal is almost 15 months, crazy!
Sunset_Sahara
Ive seen a lot of maiden-mares “overdue” but on large breeding facilities. I do also feel like climate has something to do with it, however
Gaelic Gladiacres
the horse world really runs the gamut of totally uneducated to people who meticulously research and learn and plan
Morning Star Wubs
It literally drove me up the wall seeing the over due comments, so frustrating to see, especially when I dont follow her but the stuff is constantly shoved in my face because I follow other etheical breeders lol
Gaelic Gladiacres
every horse is an individual, the standard range is 320 (viable) to 360, anything after 360 is "overdue" but it's just like people, some can go overdue just fine and for others it's concerning
Faithful Stables
My family also were breeders. Never saw a maiden go over 400 days. But it depends on the horse 🤷
Minerva
In the nicest possible way (and I'm saying this with someone who hasn't bred before and isn't claiming to be any sort of expert)... do you think possibly your conception dates might be a little early? 400+ seems insane
Tumble Weed Stables
Katie ultrasounds her horses so they will never have twins. If the chance of twins happens she reduces one embryo.
Browning Ranch
I used to work for a breeder who had lots of mares go 350+ days, including maidens. It is completely normal
Angels angels
I don't know where you heard that. Maidens typically foal early
Morning Star Wubs
Maidens almost notoriously over cook into the 400+ mark she was not overdue.
