| Kai, I stick to my system I developed before going on hiatus (2013 - 2015). I only show mares (and stallions, though they are far less). PPP and PEP combo mares are the basis of my show stock. I train all in AD- that way if they level up in one discipline I just try them in the one they haven't leveled yet. I started with my level 1 fillies and gradually my show profit grew as they grew and now I only show level 5 to 9 and hit my show cap with just those. Plus I don't need to keep barns for horses I cannot breed with (apart from my precious oldies of course, who still either show or train my riders as schoolmasters). I'm not saying mine is the 'right' or only way. Just giving a different perspective to the myth that anything that isn't a gelding is allergic to showing. |
