ally Yup! My mother had a mare with hormonal issues, so she was just MEAN most of the time. Reached over the fence and bit my dad once(really bit him, not just nipped, I think she broke skin) so smacked her across the muzzle and she never did it again
hummer my thoughts exactly! My horse understands "Move you fat bastard!" quite well. I've only had to smack him when he tried to put a whoopin on my mother's horse, who's 22 going on 2 and just wants to share food 🤦♀️😂
Its the same with kicking. My Mustang cross had a bad habit of striking out so every time she did I would do the same. She eventually learned not to do it and she hasnt kicked in years @Jester
There are places and times to discipline a horse, but to automatically resort to hitting or punching them every time they do something "wrong" is abusive and after having been through that situation I am sensitive to it.

My mustang was beat numerous times by his previous owners. He has so much trauma but he is living out his last years with us and wont have to deal with that again
The old gelding I used to ride before he passed would stop and freeze if you yelled hey. He had a lot of respect for people even kids. The old mare would suddenly be deaf and when you tried to walk her away or in a circle she'd huff and throw a little bitchy fit. It was annoying but also funny.
