No offense but if your friends had a poor education and gave you incorrect information then maybe it's not the best sources, especially if you are also learning from armchair trainers online

Still terrified of hurting them.

our farrier actually showed my moom how to properly rasp our horses feet when we first got him as a rescue because he had alot of past trauma around his feet and hes been great for years now

Again. Can be poor information lol. I've known people who owned horses too. Had one person claim that if a non-arabian horse flags its tail, that means it's going to die soon :)

If you know how to trim them correctly and have experience doing so you can avoid taking off too much.

And I have ridden them for 20 years, spent 15 years studying up to a pre veterinary level, and I'm still learning every day with them. That's the beauty of the industry, there are always more things to learn from and higher education to attain

I had dictionaries, did online looking, asked friends who OWNED horses. But, sure, poor information.

Education doesn't mean anything if it's poor information to start with.

Everyone gets done every 4 weeks, but they grow their feet out fast. Good food and supplements.

I'd have a heart attack trimming my horse's hooves, when I get one. I don't feel like hurting them unintentionally. But sure, I'll 'educate' myself, eve though I've studied horses, their behaviors, etc, since I was little.

Void we had a pony that had feet that grew crazy fast, if we hadn't self trimmed them between farrier visits it would have been neglectful in itself

I respectfully suggest that you educate yourself about horses and horse care practices in general from better sources than YouTube trainers/influencers/etc

Yeah, our horses are on a 4 week trim cycle but holy hell, everyone's frogs grow super fast lol
The Joker
01:16:00 Ari <3
I trim ours too when our farrier can't get out here, is someone gonna make a YouTube video about me now calling that abuse? The things people do for views 🤷‍♀️

Hell, my step-dad knows how to trim hooves and regularly trims Denali's frogs to keep them from being overgrown.

Yeah it's pretty common in Alberta, where that breeder lives
The Old Gods

Like, it's exceedingly common where I live for people to do their own horse hooves and own vaccinations.

Honestly the breeder doesn't have 5* accommodations for her horses but it's not an abusive situation from what I can see, it reeks of an influencer inflating things just to get views
