In the nicest possible way (and I'm saying this with someone who hasn't bred before and isn't claiming to be any sort of expert)... do you think possibly your conception dates might be a little early? 400+ seems insane

Katie ultrasounds her horses so they will never have twins. If the chance of twins happens she reduces one embryo.

I used to work for a breeder who had lots of mares go 350+ days, including maidens. It is completely normal
Angels angels
I don't know where you heard that. Maidens typically foal early
Morning Star Wubs

If there the birth you guys are talking about involved twins, it is very, very common that only one is able to make it. Sadly this is just due to the lack of space for both. Im sure a cord or anything could have stopped the fillies availabilty to survive.

I just said 400+ days is more than normal and expected for mares especially maiden mares. They dont have traditional due dates just averages.
Angels angels

Angels angels
I am curious how the birth went. Maybe she was in labor too long and the baby passed because of that?
Browning Ranch
Did anyone see her snapchat about Woody ripping around the arena? lol boy was having a blast
Morning Star Wubs
That mare wasnt overdue, its entirely normal and exepcted for mares ESPECIALLY maidens to go well over 400 days, as a breeder watching that rhetoric being spread was so painful to listen to.
Faithful Stables
She was soo excited for that foal and it was her filly. Sucks big time. I'm curious on the report she gets back on what happened
