On clicker training
I've found the
Equine Clicker 101 podcast with Shawna Karrasch
to be amazing. She talks about what the session is about, what to look for in behavior, how to set it up - then she gives time to try it, and gives follow up advice for the majority of scenarios that could've happened during your session and how to fix it and try again.
Unfortunately there's no new episodes as it's a finished series but so much to work on like target training.

I've had a lot of people swear by the Monty Robert Dually Halter. It has a movable noseband with rings on both sides.

Min if you are open to it you should look up some demos for how clicker trainers teach good manners. He could definitely figure out expectations around food. It’s like if you’re bad at math you need to practice math problems. If he’s bad with food around you need to practice with him and food

Thankfully Ted figured out FAST that I was a provider of food. It's unfortunate that we've had to annex treats because that would get him doing pretty much anything, but unfortunately he bites like a bastard when theres even the hint of them being around. Hello and welcome to The Great Race! I'm Grape, your host. This is a side account of Darkside Dreams, so no, I'm not brand new. I've been playing on and off for the better part of six years, and recently I've gotten hugely into showing. Thus, my interest in creating TGR.

I have two entities to thank for making this project possible:
Firstly, I'd like to credit Sagamore Farms for doing this first on one of their side accounts. This project is heavily inspired by theirs.
Secondly, I'd like to thank White_Thundacat and their club HEEGGW(Geldings Gone Wild) for sponsoring the project. If you haven't joined the club yet, check it out and submit an application! The club has been dormant for some time but it's due for a revamp and you'll want to be there when it comes roaring back with more, new, and BETTER! Thanks again GGW for giving me the opportunity to tackle this project by offering a sponsorship.

What is The Great Race?
The goal of TGR is to start as a bare bones stable and show our way up to the showing LBs, first the Top Southern Stables LB, then the Most Yearly Winnings LB. Along the way I will offer insights, showing tips, and guidance to hopefully help players old and new learn about showing and possibly start their own showing journeys.

The Limitations:
We won't be gaining or losing money through anything besides showing/adjacent necessities: No art will be purchased for the account, no horses will be bred or sold. Our daily free 3100/4500 EBs will be deposited into the savings account and will not be spent.

What will we spend EBs on? First and most obviously, show and rider fees. We will also have to purchase hay, more geldings, more barns, and eventually a premium upgrade.

The End Goal:
Once TGR has met its goals and the project has concluded, the account should be well established, earning at least 400k per week. At least, that's the hope. Once that point is reached, the account will start a breeding project for RID or KNN, still showing consistently on the side for profit. Additionally, once the project concludes, TGR will be sponsoring HEEGGW for a monthly giveaway. You'll have to stay tuned till the end to learn about that!

How Can YOU Participate?
Obviously, you can participate by just following along. Share your show tips and help guide those new to showing if you're seasoned, glean all kinds of info and ask tons of questions if you're new to showing and want to learn!
Of course, if you want to join in the fun and you have less than 3 free accounts, you can start a project too! Get yourself a new, blank account(or an abandoned side), and join us! It'll be loads of fun and consistency is always easier with community. <3

Starting Off.
Thanks to HEEGGW sponsoring the project, we already have a barn full of geldings at our disposal. To be exact, we have 11 lvl2s and 14 lvl1s. The level 1s rated SSS and are on week 6, so they're all ready to show, and the level 2s are rated PPP and are on week 11, so they should be ready to show this coming Monday. We have 52k in our bank account, the starting 50k for every new account, and 2k for free ranging our two starter horses.
Now to spend some money.

Profit and Loss.
This week, we have some startup costs, as follows:

-1,000 to pay the Accountant
-4,500 to purchase 1,000 haybales from another member
-800 to pay our 4 Riders
Total: 6,300 EBs.

We also earned some money:
+2,000 for FRing our starters
+100 from the login streak
+4,600 from various Quests pertaining to showing
Total: 6,700 EBs.

Total Other Profit: 300 Ebs
This brings our weekly other balance to: 50,300 EBs

Showing

Saturday, August 10th
-4,200 to enter 14 horses into shows
+6,831 winnings from 14 shows
Daily Profit: 2,631

Sunday, August 11th
-4,200 to enter 14 horses into shows
+6,348 winnings from 14 shows
Daily Profit: 2,148

Summary
Weekly Winnings: 13,179
Weekly Show Profit: 4,779
after rider fees: 3,979
End Balance: 55,479

Because we started this project at the end of the week, our profits are a little low for these two days. Typically, Monday through Wednesday is the best time to enter shows, as Thursday through Sunday, shows are filled up with 'bot horses' who tend to be more competitive. We'll get more into that later.

Stealing this post for a shameless plug:
I've been busy the past month, as evidenced by my lack of posting. But I've still gotten to track the most important bits of my journey because of one of my favorite things in the world: a spreadsheet.
The Unknown was kind enough to share their profit tracker with myself and all of you, and I couldn't be more happy and grateful. I simply LOVE data, and I love being able to keep my profits and notes in such an easy to use space. You can find the template here, it's really super useful! So, thanks Unknown, for sharing such a wonderful thing!

A Small Hiatus.

I've been away for quite some time! Don't worry, the project is most certainly not forgotten. I've been keeping up with showing and taking what notes I can. Between moving into a new home with my fiance(yay!), not having Internet for two weeks after moving, and then having my computer break, it's been a ride. But don't worry, I'm here now, with a quick summary of the past few showing weeks!

Week Two.

Monday, August 12th
-5,400 to enter 17 horses into shows
+6,233 winnings from 17 shows
Daily Profit: 833

Tuesday, August 13th
-5,000 to enter 16 horses into shows
+10,626 winnings from 16 shows
Daily Profit: 5,626

Wednesday, August 14th
-5,400 to enter 17 horses into shows
+8,257 winnings from 17 shows
Daily Profit: 2,857

Summary
Weekly Winnings: 25,116
Weekly Show Profit: 9,316
Uff. We're off to a rough start, which is a trend you'll notice for the next couple weeks. I'm not sure why, but my level 1 SSS geldings just... weren't bringing their best game. They were ready to show, in some cases more than ready, but they just weren't up to snuff.

Week Three.

Monday, August 19th
-7,400 to enter 22 horses into shows
+12,811 winnings from 22 shows
Daily Profit: 5,411

Tuesday, August 20th
-7,400 to enter 22 horses into shows
+16,200 winnings from 22 shows
Daily Profit: 8,800

Wednesday, August 21st
-7,400 to enter 22 horses into shows
+12,375 winnings from 22 shows
Daily Profit: 4,975

Summary
Weekly Winnings: 41,386
Weekly Show Profit: 19,186

Like I said, these geldings weren't bringing their A game just yet. I wish I could say why, but I guess I just have to chalk it up to bad luck. They were getting decent scores; they just weren't placing well. Most likely they were paired with horses at the tippy top of their level with more experienced riders, as my geldings were just barely entering the green.

Week Four.

Monday, August 26nd
-8,600 to enter 25 horses into shows
+12,500 winnings from 25 shows
Daily Profit: 3,900

Wednesday, August 28th
-8,300 to enter 24 horses into shows
+18,025 winnings from 24 shows
Daily Profit: 9,725

Thursday, August 29th
-8,000 to enter 23 horses into shows
+18,200 winnings from 25 shows
Daily Profit: 10,200

Summary
Weekly Winnings: 48,725
Weekly Show Profit: 23,825

I got a little frustrated during this week. Shows weren't turning out the way I thought I knew they should've, and I took a day off. Fortunately, when I came back, we were gifted with two of the best showing days to date!

Week Five.

Monday, September 2nd
-7,400 to enter 21 horses into shows
+17,625 winnings from 21 shows
Daily Profit: 10,225

Wednesday, September 4th
-6,500 to enter 18 horses into shows
+15,050 winnings from 18 shows
Daily Profit: 8,550

Thursday, September 5th
-5,300 to enter 14 horses into shows
+11,875 winnings from 14 shows
Daily Profit: 6,575

Summary
Weekly Winnings: 44,550
Weekly Show Profit: 25,350

I'll be honest, I don't remember why I missed Tuesday again. Life gets crazy some days. But this week was a good week! Not only did our profit double our fees, we also made our first big purchase: another 25 stall barn! It'll sit there empty for now, but we'll get to it soon.

Week Six.

Monday, September 9th
-4,400 to enter 11 horses into shows
+10,400 winnings from 11 shows
Daily Profit: 6,000

Tuesday, September 10th
-4,400 to enter 11 horses into shows
+10,900 winnings from 11 shows
Daily Profit: 6,500

Wednesday, September 11th
-4,400 to enter 11 horses into shows
+11,328 winnings from 11 shows
Daily Profit: 6,928

Summary
Weekly Winnings: 32,628
Weekly Show Profit: 19,428

Another wonderful week under our belts. By now, every single level one gelding has leveled, and our level 2s are starting to go. They only have about two weeks of profit left, and then we won't have any geldings left in the green. But we'll soon remedy that.

A Small Hiatus: A Summary.

As you may have noticed, the last few weeks of data don't have a profit and loss section. Unfortunately, while I kept track of my showing income, I did not keep track of income frome quests, daily logins, or things like rider fees. I will continue with rider fees in the very least in the future.

But, to summarize our current bank situation:

Weeks 2-6 we earned 192,405 ebs from showing.
Subtracting entry fees, we made 97,105 ebs of pure profit.

We spent:
1,000 ebs to pay the accountant
Estimated 5,000 ebs in rider fees
100,000 ebs to buy a barn

Our current balance is 41,434 ebs. Remember, we started with 50,000.

Our account is 39 days old. Every day, our daily 3,100 ebs gets deposited into the savings account- which now totals 120,900 ebs.

That 41k is going to dip near zero soon- but it's okay, we're getting more geldings! More geldings, more profit- and that number will shoot right back up.

Stay tuned for next week's update, and feel free to ask questions!
