Del,
Well, she was whiny in general, too. I was too small to pick up a german shepherd safely and refused, suddenly it was passed off as "refusing work."

Amongst other things.

One time she snapped at me for "snarking" at her when I said, in a polite tone, "alright, I understand" to something she explained.

If thats truly how it is there, then I would start looking for a new position. Working in an environment where you have to constantly second guess yourself is stressful. Not good for the mental :)

My prior internship I got "fired" from. Why? An older lady who was overseeing me and all of my daily activities dropped a can of treats on the floor. She looked really in pain when she bent over to pick them up, so I offered to help.

She looked like I just screamed an insult at her...

But like I said there is always two workers and we do it all together. The main person I work with and do everything with is the Manager, which is the owners second in command

Sometimes people will explain how to do something one way but actually complete the task another. We dont always completely verbalize our process. There might be some unspoken rules that are at play here that you can only see if you shadow the task. Im sure this is frustrating.

Yep. That is one of the main reasons I left my last job. I worked there for almost 6 years and did everything the same way all those years which is the way I was taught and told by the owner. Then suddenly everything I was doing was wrong.

I would ask to shadow the owner or a coworker again for those tasks. Maybe a step in the task is escaping you and you don’t even realize it.

Well, the owner can't have it both ways. They can't train their employees one way, and do the same thing a different way. It's just gonna confuse, and piss off said workers. They get paid to do what they're trained to do.

Is the owner the type is person where they need to do things themselves in order for it to feel like it was done right? The issue could have nothing to do with you personally. Are there other workers there you could ask to see if there is something that you might be missing?

Hey Hillcrest, lovely to meet you (:
That's so admirable that you breed arabians in rl as well! Our passions in our real lives definitely show in our breedings on HEE, and I think that a solid line would be lovely to see!
I just recently snagged a nice pure Black EEE Wild Stallion, and it felt like having Shetan at my stables haha. ♡

Thank you! I'm afraid my breeding days are long behind me for horses, now I breed ferrets. LOL. Smaller and easier. But the lessons I learned from my first horses, and the wonderful Arabian mare Tina that taught me so much have carried through my life. I am looking forward to learning from all of you and working on developing rated colors (I'm attracted to pearls and creams and other shinies, not so much the patterns) and seeing what can happen with a solid. And I am JEALOUS of a wild black stallion! :-D that's awesome! What girl doesn't want Shetan in her stable?!?

Hi everyone. I'm trying to build my stable by investing in good mares, good geldings/stallions (to be gelded) for showing, and speculating with what looks to me, with my limited experience, as good colts or fillies. I had a question about some horses at auction. One stable is selling out all their AAs, but all are wild caught and the starting bid is 5000. I know in some areas that's the base price for capturing a horse, but it still seemed a little high for a starting bid for unproven, not WWW horses. Would these be a good option for me to start building? I mean, as long as they are P+ or better? How did you all get started building your stables? Any advice is appreciated... and Ellaira has been extremely helpful answering all my noob questions. :-) Thank you! Also, is it appropriate to post in here some matches/mares that I want to breed to see if you have any stud suggestions? I don't want to spam the feed.

Hey there, love!
For stallions I would actually recommend EEE+. Usually anything below that are used as geldings, unless it's a PEE with something they are looking for. EEE+ stallions are the best likely to produce well with PPP+ mares.
.
Do you know how to match strengths to weaknesses? I know there's been talk about how to track training. :)
.
Many people don't start out with a stallion in their stable at all. They'll use outside stallions from LBs (or non-LB stallions that have what they focus on), and breed them with their mares. This tends to be the quickest way to build up some ratings, but it does take time, and especially so if you're looking for colour matches.

Thanks! Yes, I'm not keeping any stallions/colts ungelded if they rate lower then EEE. I stalk the sales, auctions, show results, leaderboards, I'm a total nerd, so I noticed two things. First that there are lots of nice EEE or better studs available for breeding, and second that a lot of the top showing geldings are not EEE, but often PPP+ or PEP+ combinations. So it makes sense to geld any of them lower then EEE, but since I'm trying to build a gelding army for showing, I tried to find a few lower cost stallions or colts or geldings that were training nicely that I could geld and then show. My mentor gave great advice on that aspect, as well as giving me a detailed roadmap on matching strengths/weaknesses. And I learned a lot here about how to evaluate horses based on their training patterns. I've learned so much in a short time! I already see a few errors I made early on, but that's ok, it's how you learn.

Then you are on the right track. <3 Geldings are also acceptable as even SSS (not to be confused with Sub). EEE stallions that don't have exceptional colours, good training, or don't have some sort of sentimental value are also very good as geldings.
.
As said, many people don't start out with stallions in their stable. If you don't breed him for any specific purpose, then he's safe to geld. :)

Thank you! There are so many things to consider as I learn more about the game. Here I thought it was an eventing sim and I'd be riding around on a horse taking fences, I didn't realize it was so much more involved. :-) or that I would be completely hooked on it and want all the pretty horses right NOW. LOL.

Genetics question: As I'm trying to plan some matches for Nov. 1, and make good choices and not spam breed every mare I own, what is the best way to figure out colors? I understand that ratings is somewhat based on luck - I've seen some matches where even a WWW was matched to an EWE and ended up with EPE, so there's no absolute certainty of a high rating every time. But I wondered if there is a way to better predict color? It doesn't look like everyone does a genetic test on every horse, so you can't be 100% certain what might be recessive and be expressed in a foal if both parents have that recessive gene, but there has to be some way to make an educated guess? I have taken the time to read all the genetics information I could find in the forum, but it's not my area of expertise so I'm still trying to understand it completely. Does anyone have a chart or program they use to make a best guess on which genes a particular mare or stallion is carrying to better predict foal outcome? I'm seeing spreadsheets in my future. :-) And can you use other offspring to help determine parent genetics? Sorry this is getting in the weeds... but as I said I breed ferrets in RL, so I have a general understanding of genetics, and know what I'm breeding for and what I expect to get in a litter, but I don't have the full scientific background of the actual genes. Thank you all for any help.

If you have specific horses and questions about them, feel free to post them here! I've gotten decent at the genetics since I breed apricots. I have found this forum to be invaluable
