Out of curiosity I went through the mare LBs today and counted the number of WC mares on each. The results:

I was under the false impression RIDs were the best.

But I still love them most!

Pfft, RIDs are the best. :D WB numbers are inflated by lots of wilds.

I'm hoping Ink and some other established breeders care share some insights on culling with me please.

I don't want to decimate my entire herd but I need to crunch down on the number of foals I'm producing as I'm spending so much time explore-testing the foals I don't get much chance to take a ride with my fully trained W horses.

I have also set myself the goal of making my herd colorful but it only helps with selection up to a point!

I've been wondering, is there use in culling older mares by production or do you guys find this to be random by and large?

I'm starting to have the same issue. Ended up breeding so much that I couldn't rate all of it within the month and then trashing half of it. Plus having no time to actually enjoy explore.

Seems to be putting a decent dent in my herd so far and I've noticed a small improvement.

I cull by LB status. I breed the LB mares, the 3-5 year old mares, any color incentive mares, test my freshmen, and then stop breeding. Up to this point I have not been culling by production. I have toyed with the idea of culling my non-LB test mare herd by AD ratings, since they are used as a tiebreaker on the bravery LBs.

I can see you culling by LB status! Which doesn't help a mere mortal like me.

So I might just try to emulate PFF and see if I get better results by culling the non-producing older mares.

I still have a bunch of Premium mares that have color and were used as test mares but I'll have to look into reducing them too as with the W update I don't need a lot of testers yet, so I can insert my worst-producing or plainest color E-mares into that slot.

Dang, I wish I was at that stage. I love the thrill of having to rate foals, but I get it all over with in a few days.

Also, I've somehow gotten enough ebs to either buy a 25 stall barn or a round pen. Any ideas on which I should get? Ahhh.
