So like fighting mites with mites? That’s super interesting
Greenheart Stables
@Red Theres another way but its a tad more expensive. Predatory mites, which would eat the Snake mites and then die off.
Red Hill Hollow
Yucky π that makes it so painful. But I guess that makes sense. With the piggies it’s only a single dose, just a drop behind each ear and it kills the mites within a day. I couldn’t image dealing with it for months
Greenheart Stables
@Red Not that I know of? For snakes since theres no fur typically consistent baths and reptile safe mite killer to clean the tank is the only way and you have to treat for months
Greenheart Stables
@Red It isss they get everywhere and im scared of having them with how close together the enclosure s are, it would make combating them a nightmare
Red Hill Hollow
Yeah for sure and they’re a struggle to get rid of too. Atleast in Guinea pigs that is. Is there medications you can give to kill the mites? I usually use kitten revolution on my pigs
Red Hill Hollow
Mites are such a pain, you poor thing π I always feel so itchy whenever I deal with them. That and lice π
Greenheart Stables
I want to have her home but mites spread like a plague between snakes
Greenheart Stables
@Red But now im treating a new snake for mites π currently have her at my mothers to quarantine. Really all that can be done is daily dawn dishsoap baths and a minimalistic enclosure until all stages are dead
Greenheart Stables
@Red She's been perfect! Been super good on accepting all her meals so far and has even gained most of her weight back.
