That's a good strategy! I used gen ed to test out law since I was interested but very quickly decided that was a no. Gen eds are also good for bridging gaps too, I didn't remember much chemistry from school so I did a chem gen ed this summer that I've just finished just to feel a bit more confident

For sure. I'm in a weird spot since I'm already enrolled at a university for fall.. but I was hoping to at least try something out in the summer beforehand, and use gen ed courses as an opportunity to pick out things to try.

I totally understand that, I still feel that pressure now especially since I'm not working while studying right now. You can also look into certificates or online courses that are shorter/lower pressure if there was something you were really curious about.

Moon, interesting! I really struggle with allowing myself to take that sort of time to explore- I have so many financial goals it's hard to set them aside so I can first get things moving and then focus on it later.

All that to say take your time and if you are passionate about something see if there's a field that includes that lol!

Nope I worked full time in various roles for years before studying. I technically didn't earn university entrance from my schooling system so I would have had to bridge or wait until I was a 'mature' student. I have worked in a lot of casual and seasonal roles to see different fields. I do have late diagnosed ADHD though so I did lack direction for a long time lol. But I always loved horse color genetics ironically, had horses from a young age and that lead me into genetics as a whole. Psych was.. a lived experience thing but I quickly decided being a therapist isn't what I wanted so I discovered behavioral psychology and research avenues rather than clinical. I'd love to do genetic counselling but I would have to do my masters overseas which unfortunately is not an option so I will eventually have to choose to do psych or bio for my masters if I chose to do it

Moon, what sort of life experience helped you in that, and for you did that mean taking a break from uni or staying and investing time in internships and such?

It took me a long time! I've changed my degree three times before settling, but I always recommend life experience first before studying so you aren't stuck doing something you hate. Also, once you do start studying you learn so many things that are out there, so many fields I never knew were an option! So, often the more you study the easier it is to narrow down what you want to do
Moonlight Equestrian
02:39:15 Moon
Yeah it was all agreed that when I returned to uni since I'm a 'mature' student that my hours would reduce (contract and all) but it became too hard for them so they tried the whole 'we will make you quit instead of firing you' act and I had to deal with lawyers, it was such a huge and avoidable drama in the end but I still value the experience I had

can't help myself loooolll. WIP
Name: Lindsay Chandler Blake, but she doesn't identify her first name as apart of her at all in any capacity, so she goes by Chandler/writes her full name as Chandler Blake.
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Job: Worship leader--she has been transferred here from Oregon to build a megachurch from the ground up, and decided to bring her horse with her and at least make it a little fun by joining a riding program.
Appearance:
Personality:
Discipline: Eventing has always excited her, but she's never had the means to learn until now.
Side discipline (up to 2): Hunter/Eq, Showjumping
Father:
Mother:
Siblings: One older brother named Seth.
Horse:
Riding level: In eventing, next to none. She is an eloquent rider, but has trained equitation/hunters all her life, and thus needs extensive technical training. In the hunters, she'll school 4'6 without a second thought. She's intelligent and bold as they come.
Backstory: Fresh out of college and full of energy, Chandler has been asked to build a megachurch from the ground up, and obviously took the request with gusto. She is brand new to the area and brand new to freedom, thus ready to do some crazy things.
Romantic status: Single, looking
GF/BF: PM me
Likes:
Dislikes:
Riding experience: as mentioned above, probably something strong in dressage? She'll be able to ace SJ/XC since she's an experienced showjumper with her horse.
Preferred school horse: any
Other: waffles + ice cream

Dont mind me Lol xD

Work - In - Progress

Name: Simon Triba
Gender: Male
Age:23
Appearance: Jet black hair, usually pushed into a quiff-It's obviously gelled but seems to have little effort installed into it.Neutral clothing,Usually unbranded or not of an expensive make but from an onlooking perspective he always looks smart.Deep tanned skin and Hazel eyes that in certain lighting has flints of Lilac.Stands at about 5'8,So not incredibly tall with a gentle frame. He doesnt have an 'equestrian look' about him,but he does excel in it.
Personality: He just seems generally perfect.Cool,Collected and largely indifferent to most matters.A touch sarcastic, and just generally soothing to be around.Hardly judgemental - How can he be?Seems to bring words out of people,in a similar way to Tristan ;P Takes a seriously incredible character to get anything else out of him.
Likes:
Dislikes:
Crush:
Romantic Status:
Backstory: Literally None. He's just appeared from no-where,beginning his work around the eventing circuits and absolutely smashing them all.You can't search him up beside his recent eventing success - Noone knows where he spent his childhood,or learnt to ride - Or even where he lives now.Not even the intrusive media. He's extremely guarded on the whole matter.
Riding Experience (If Applicable): Unknown,But watching him ride for a matter of minutes shows his high level. He's done a ton of the worldwide Dressage events, never won in unfortunate fashion but always been one to watch.
Pets/Mounts: Flame

Other: He is unrivaled in cricket - Damn can he hit a ball for yards.

Flame:

Show Name: Mon Fuego

Barn Name: Flame

Age: 7

Breed: Lustiano

Gender: Stallion

Appearance: Standing at 16.2hh,Gorgeous Flaxen Liver Chestut with a strong powerful neck - more often than not gorgeously arched.Even chalky white blaze and a cronet on his front right hoof. His hooves alternate between a sooty grey and beige stripes.Silky pure mane and tail that brush the floor. He likes to saunter around, showing his sheeny tonage off.

Personality:Stubborn,Yet gentle.Likes to impress and is more of a ladies man.But he's certainly aware of his beauty and shows it where he can.

Owner/Rider: Simon Triba

Likes:

Dislikes:

Discipline: Eventing - But excels in Dressage.

Achievements:

Other: Similarly to his owner - No one knows where he was born / Trained / Even where Simon aquired him from in the first place.Which is odd in itself as no stud has claimed the breeding for such a successful competitive pair.

Chandler's School Pon:
.
WO Tropical Paradise 'Oasis' 15.3 hh, 11 yrs, Chonky pinto QH X mare: The most inquisitive mare around. She wants to stop to sniff, see, hear absolutely everything. You see that tree thats been there for centuries - That she walks past everyday?Oasis will spook and shy and dance around until you go over and physically stroke it ; Then's all good until the next object of interest..
Beside this she's nearly a dream to ride, she's experienced and lenient.Willing to adapt to her rider's style and quick to pick up on cues. She can be a pain for leaving her back-end in the dust - So needs someone with skills at collecting and keeping her haunches under her to preform at top potential. Is a good beginner mount, does low poles but is a little more naturally skilled in Dressage.Isnt a world-class jumper by any means but tries as best as she can manage.
