Name: Jolene
Age: 5 years old
Gender: Mare/Female Herd: Plains Herd Rank: Herd Mare
Desired Rank: Content being a herd mare, would consider becoming a lead mare for a different herd, with the right stallion
Appearance: Jolene is a simple dark palomino mare, nothing flashy or exciting, she has a strong blaze down her face and a coronet band on her right front leg. Her coat is so dark she almost looks chestnut. Her legs are strong and sturdy, a trace of feathers at the bottom, likely a reminant of some draft genes or heritage generations back. Jolene knows who she is but isn't pushy or overly aggressive, content to simply blend in with the herd and stay safe amongst the ranks. Mila is her second foal ever and she has sprung back remarkably well although still carries a lot of foal weight. She found herself to have more energy during her pregnancy and is young enough that she's delighted to spend her days galloping around with her foals (once they've got their legs under them). Dark brown, large eyes and incredibly fluffy ears with some light fluff on her cheeks.
Personality: Maternal || Energetic || Steady || Self-Reliant || Self-Confident || Playful || Compassionate || Spirited
Jolene is a mare who, since having her first foal, has come into her own as a maternal figure, she's always friendly towards foals even if they're not her own and hesitates to correct foals that aren't hers. The being said she's not afraid to discipline her own foals if they step out of line, although her definition of 'out of line' can be rather relaxed at times. Overall, she's a friendly, self-confident mare who is happy to stay in the safety of a herd and encourages her foals to do the same. Although she wants to think the herd's old lead stallion is still alive she's beginning to doubt that he is, and is willing to put up with other stallions' attentions, especially if it means she can foal next year as well.

Name: Mila
Age: 3 days
Gender: Mare/Female Herd: Plains Herd Rank: Foal
Desired Rank: Lead mare (likely for a different herd)
Appearance: A dark chestnut tobiano filly, foal of the last lead stallion. She's flashy and pretty, two long stockings on her front legs and two socks on her back legs. Still new to the world and on wobbly legs her traits are coming in slowly. The fillys striking amber eyes were the first thing Jolene noticed when she foaled her out. She's got long, gangly legs, unlike her mothers stocky ones, she's inherited her fathers build, light and ready for running... once she's a little older.
Personality: Energetic but shy, Mila hasn't experienced much of the world apart from behind her mothers front legs. Other horses still scare her at the moment, including her eldest sister Lute, but Jolene is hoping that she will become more confident as she gets a little older, she doesn't want her to get too bold too young, thats how foals get into trouble.

Name: Lute
Gender: Yearling Filly Herd: Plains Herd
Desired Rank: Lead Mare
Rank: Yearling
Apperance: Greying filly, she came into the world a dark bay without any white points, she was sired by a bachelor stallion when Jolene was still in her fathers herd. She's graying out slowly and is still the dark-steel grey she turned in foalhood although a few dapples are appearing around her neck and belly, it looks like she will grey out completely sometime in her late single-digits/early teens. She inherited some of her mother stockiness, especially in her legs, her cannon bones are thick and steady but she's still light on her hooves, a confident jumper and runner with a penchant for getting to high up places.
Personality: Easily Challenged || Over-confident || Rambunctious || Slightly Aggressive || Flightly || Assertive || Aggressive around non-herd members
Other: Lute was Jolene's first foal and although she's still at her mothers side and Jolene loves her very much, she was a steep learning curve, Jolene hopes that her filly will even out temprament wise after a few years.
My favorite SSOTC horse has to be Esperanza, I love a palomino and she just seems so sweet! Edited at February 1, 2026 03:06 PM by Briar Thorn Ranch

I haven't done one of these in so long omg, I hope this is okay! I'm assuming most of these will not be related to him (mares or foals). Like a fun step-dad almost? Lol --- Name: Orien Age/Gender: Stallion Herd: Plains Herd Rank: Lead Stallion Desired Rank: Lead Stallion Appearance: Orien stands roughly 17hh on a good day, sporting a dark grullo coat. He's a steel-gray color shaded in black along his legs and spine, a faint dorsal stripe running down his back. His eyes are a deep amber-brown, watchful and intelligent underneath a heavy forelock. A rough, uneven white blaze marks his broad face, matched by two low white socks on his hind legs. His head is wide and strong with a straight profile and flared nostrils, built for endurance. Broad-chested and muscled, he has a compact, draft-influenced build that gives him a large, powerful presence. Personality: Orien is neither aggressive nor timid. He is careful and thoughtful of his actions and words. Though hard to trust at first, once he does trust he is possibly the most loyal horse one can meet. That's not to say he is rough and mean. He is a surprisingly kind and gentle soul, willing to help anyone he can. He does have a temper though, like anyone else, and can shut down if pressured too much. Crush: N/A Foals: N/A Kin: N/A Other: I loved the gray with the blue circle, specifically the one scene where he gets his marking painted on, sweet baby *cry*

Name: Rhys Gender: Stallion Age: 5 years Herd: Bachelor Rank: N/A Desired Rank: Lead Stallion Appearance: Credits: Photo taken by ME Rhys is a pitch-white grey stallion standing at 15.3hh. Though still young at five years old, his coat has already lightened significantly, leaving him an off-white shade rather than a true white, with natural dust staining and faint darker shading around the muzzle, knees, and hocks. He is stocky and well-muscled from living wild, with a strong chest and developing hindquarters. He carries a thick, untrimmed mane and tail that fall naturally, often uneven from weather and wear. His neck is well-set with a youthful arch, and his legs are clean and sturdy. Dark eyes contrast against his pale face, giving him an alert, watchful expression. Personality: Rhys is a strong-willed and independent young stallion, shaped by life without constraint or handling. He values his freedom above all else and is slow to tolerate pressure from others, particularly unfamiliar stallions. While not needlessly aggressive, he carries a sharp edge and will not hesitate to defend himself or assert dominance when challenged, showing a mean and determined fight when pushed. Despite this, Rhys is intelligent and observant, preferring to assess situations before acting. He possesses a natural confidence and steady presence that often draws attention from other horses, and his instincts suggest the makings of a capable herd leader—decisive, protective, and aware of his surroundings. As a bachelor, however, he remains restless and unattached, more inclined to roam and test boundaries than to settle or claim responsibility over others. He is most at ease in open spaces, moving on his own terms, and resists confinement or control. Loyalty, once earned, runs deep, but trust is not given easily. Overall, Rhys is a free-spirited stallion with both the presence and temperament of a leader, even if his path has not yet led him to become one. Crush: N/A Foals: N/A Kin: N/A
