Denali wondered what she was going to do, she couldn't exactly treat it herself but everyone was too tired to deal with anything more it seemed.

Cypress glanced around, his wandering gaze falling first on June, Raina, and Bellamy. Then it slid over to Denali.. his mind flashed back to the run. Didn't she yelp? Her paw looked a bit swollen. +Still, what if she gets mad at me for trying to help? It's not like any of them know me+ Cypress thought with a wince, but decided whatever it was it looked painful and he should at least try to help. He rose to his feet and shook out his pelt, walking over. "That looks painful. Need any help?" He asked quietly- Cypress had always been good at pulling out thorns because he was gentle and precise. Never worried about how long it took. A lot of dogs he knew said he was a brain no brawn, and Cypress liked that.

"Oh, sure thanks I didn't know what to do." She smiled feeling relieved that he was willing to help, maybe we could be friends?, she thought. She clenched her jaw ready for the pain of the thorn coming out then nodded when she was ready.

Cypress nodded, laying down to get a better look at the paw. The thron was deep in there... but he was certain he could get it out. "Sorry, this might hurt a bit." He apologized beforehand, licking the blood away from the wound before grabbing the thorn gently in his teeth, pulling it out straight and spitting it onto the ground. "Better?" Cypress inquired a bit meekly, since his normal comment would be to joke around and get himself in trouble. He stood and backed up after it was done, cocking his head.

Cypress felt a little bad when Denali- he thought her name was Denali- flinched, but was glad when she said it felt better. "Oh- good. No, it's fine, I do stuff like this a lot." He answered with a slight wag of his tail as well, starting to walk away back to his spot.

Mz layed down, both mentally and physically tired. Mz started to close his eyes, fighting this sickness and running at the same time seemed to sap his energy from him

…alone in a dilapidated, cold and smelly building in a rusting wire cage that had no dividers from the many dead dogs around her, June's mother nestled in the very back of the cage as the contractions became unbearable, she was about to give birth. Before her mother was in the illegal dog meat trade she was a stray and had met a wild male gray wolf, these were to be his pups. It took 5 hours but her mother was able to give birth to three puppies, two boys and a girl, both boys looked like little gray wolf pups and the female was pure white just like her mother. Unfortunately one of the boys was stillborn. So her mother focused her attention on June and her other brother. It had been a week and her mother was starving, only surviving on the scraps of old meat inside her cage and what she was able to get from outside her cage. But she wasn’t producing enough milk for her two newborns. Two more days had passed and June's last brother also slipped away from starvation. Knowing that her last pup wouldn’t have a chance if she didn’t try and get out, June's mother tried barking as loud as she possibly could but since she was also dehydrated it wasn’t that loud. But then she heard the barking of dogs and the yelling of a man approach the building until it stopped right outside. A loud banging echoed in the room as whoever was there tried to get it. Being able to pry the door open a young man stepped inside with a flashlight and instantly covered his nose. Shining the flashlight around the ray of light landed on June's mother who was trying to get out of the scraps of meat from outside her cage but it was too far. Being scared for her pup’s safety, June's mother cowered in fear. But then the young man opened her cage with a warm smile and saw her two dead puppies in front of her and her only living one squirming against her belly to get some milk. Kneeling down the man beckoned her as he calmly lifted the squirming puppy. “Come let’s go home…” Waking up with a jerk, June looked around the room which was pitch black by now as it was the middle of the night with the only light coming from the small window on the far wall opposite the door. Bellamy and Raina were still next to her sleeping. Easing out of the little huddle, June walked to the door yawning. That dream of the story her mom told her was not letting her get enough sleep and she had to go potty. Shaking her pelt she trotted to the door and began scratching at it and quietly whining to get the night guard’s attention.

Mz opened a eye, he saw June moving, and got up, slowly. He was old, but he was extremely quiet, "June, what wakes you?" He asked, standing next to her, blinking his eyes to get used to the dark light

“Just a bad dream…” she said, glancing at Mz for a second then back at the door really needing to go outside. Scratching at the door a few more times she sighs and gives up circling around then laying down in front of the door.
