Eli Ray | Open, Mentions Ivie

Eli shoved his hands deeper into his coat pockets a stifled a shiver. He had arrived maybe an hour ago? He couldn't seem to recal but the cold wa salmost too much to bear. You'd think growing up in Rocky Mountain winters would make the cold easier to handle, but not with Eli. The flight over was excruciating though and having to sit in between a person who kept falling over on you asleep and another who just wouldn't shut up. The woman told him her entire life story in 10 minutes.

Eli walked down the hall back to the main lobby area to look at the names on the housing board. He hoped he wasn't next to anyone. At least anyone annoying. The blonde assumed that they would be spread out because who keeps people cooped up in a big house like this? He leaned down to read and landed on one name. "Ivie Torres huh?" She was the room directly above him. "Hope shes not too loud." Eli grumbled. Standing back up, he glanced around. He wanted to go out and see the barns and meet his horse before people started showing up. Some people are too friendly when coming to a new place.

Heather Storm | M: Open.

A black pick up truck would be going down the road, hauling a silvery grey two horse trailer with a built in tackroom on the right side of the trailer. Heather would be listening to music on the radio while gently tapping her index finger on the steering wheel. The young woman let out a nervous sigh, already she could feel her anxiety trying to act up but the young woman would try to keep herself calm by doing a few deep breath sessions. The brunette gently pushed her glasses up since they've slid down a little, she would see the stables come into view. She'd turn her turn signal on before slowly her truck down a bit then carefully turns into the driveway as she was now looking for a place to park, catching a few glances of riders already out on their horses.

Once Heather parked her vehicle in a parking spot, she turned her car key as the young woman turned the engine off after putting the truck into park. She leaned back against her driver seat, still feeling a bit nervous while feeling a bit homesick since she wasn't in Florida anymore. "Ok, ok it's fine...everything is gonna be fine. It's just a facility where you board your horses to ride and train for competitions. Besides, what could possibly go wrong..a lot of things actually." Heather softly said to herself, basically talking to herself inside her own vehicle with some of her southern accent coming out a bit.

After a few minutes of the brunette had finally calmed her nerves down, she opened her driver side door before stepping out of her vehicle, shutting the truck door. She makes her way to the back of the trailer as the brunette could already hear her stud fussing from inside the trailer, wanting to be let out already after the long drive here.

Heather would be wearing a medium blue tank top with a print of both a chestnut horse and a white horse with a black mane running with each other on the front, faded dark blue shorts with black and white sneakers. She would have her hair in a ponytail to just keep her hair out of her face so it doesn't get in the way. The young woman walked around to the other side of the trailer as her stallion continued to fuss inside the trailer as she was getting her tackroom door open to grab a lead since she left their halters on both of her horses.

Heather grabbed Eclipse's black lead rope before remaking her way back to the back of the trailer. "Alright, alright I'm coming. Geez, don't get your hooves all in a twist." The woman softly grumbled to herself, opening up the trailer door before setting it down to become a ramp then steps inside to grab her stallion first while her mare has been very much quiet this whole trip here. She stayed on the left side of Eclipse as he had finally settled down a bit, clipping on his lead to his black halter that has silver buckles then she carefully backs him out until he's completely out of the trailer.

The stallion stood quite tall next to his rider as he held his head high with perked ears before a loud bellowed neigh sounds out of him, already thinking that he owns the place while he's intrigued by the new sighs and smells. Heather would feel a bit embarrassed by the stallion's behavior as she covers her face a bit with her left hand while holding the lead firmly in her right hand, the young woman moves her said right hand away from her face before she gets her equine to move his feet by walking him in a circle to hopefully calm the stud down some more which Eclipse decided to prance a bit to be a little show off.

The young woman slowed the stallion back down to a halt, he was now somewhat easier to manage now as Eclipse shook himself a bit which the brunette carefully refixed his black rug while his black shipping boots stayed perfectly on his legs then she lead the stallion to the right side of the trailer before hitching him to the trailer. She goes back into the trailer, coming back out with Eclipse's half empty haynet before tying it to the right side of the trailer for the stud to snack on to keep him distracted.

Heather went back inside the little tackroom, grabbing a pale lilac purple lead rope then she makes her way back over to the back of the trailer to get her mare out of the trailer. The young woman would notice her dapple grey mare was looking back at her with perked ears as she approached the equine on the left side. "Hey, pretty girl." She'd softly said to the equine while clipping her lead to her matching colored halter that also has silver buckles on it. Heather carefully backs her mare out until she's completely out of the trailer. Etria's rug and shipping boots would also match, the woman started walking her mare around in a circle to help stretch her legs for a bit since it was a long drive for both of the equines while the Dapple Grey would be quite interested in the new sights and smells of their new surroundings.

Eden / Ezra | Each Other, Ivan, Monroe, Sullivan

It was approaching one in the afternoon when Eden and Ezra finally made it to the farm after a full day and then some of straight travel. Kholo had sent them out on the last flight before the weather had whipped through the east coast, but there was no escaping the harsh German winter that awaited them. Though they both came from stereotypically cold and gloomy places, they’d been in Virginia for over a year, and the chill in the air came as a shock to both of them after so much time away. The next surprise came when they couldn’t manage to find their mode of transportation, and due to their lack of knowledge of the German language, navigating the small local airport was more of a challenge than any other segment of the trip.

Somehow, the airport remained the single greatest challenge of the trip, even when they finally found their ride. He was the uber driver from hell, and the unbearable amount of talking he did made them believe he’d been living under a rock for most of his life. When Eden’s annoyance led her to say as much, he replied that, in fact, he wasn’t living under a rock, but locked in a basement. They assumed he was kidding, and he just wasn’t that funny. He wasn’t kidding.

The twenty minute drive turned into a fifty minute drive between the snow and the ice on the roads and a stop the man, Ivan, insisted they take. “To explore,” he’d said. Ezra muttered in Eden’s ear that the second he unlocked the doors, they should just get out and walk the rest of the way. Ivan left them in the car with the child lock on, and neither wanted to spare the dignity of climbing to the front and unlocking it, especially not in the puffy, tight winter layers they both wore. The last twenty minutes, all Ivan talked about was a sister of his, who’d gotten him this job. He insisted that they should remember her from the place in Virginia they came from. They didn’t. Vaguely, Ezra recalled the other name Ivan dropped. Alex. When he first got the job, several people mentioned his name, and that Ezra was filling his position, and his old room, and his life. He’d even saved a couple things the man had left in the room because they looked sentimental. Ezra had always been one to collect trinkets, and inheriting a room filled with someone else’s stuff benefitted him in that way.

Finally, they’d arrived, and they slept for several hours, agreeing to meet back up about the time the meeting would start in Kirche. They’d signed up for the one the following day after the chaos they’d endured, but they both wanted to get a feel for the stables and explore before they started doing real work in the days that followed. They already had their first competition in just a few days, and neither had even met their horses yet. Hopes of hacking them–really hacking them–in the days leading up to the competition seemed dim due to the snow that covered everything. The arenas were clear, but the footing was frozen, and the sky seemed to threaten to send more snow down at any moment. Ezra didn’t mind, but Eden was livid. She missed the facilities at White Oaks already, and she’d barely been here an hour.

At the time they’d agreed upon, they met in the foyer of the main house. Both were fifteen minutes early, as they typically were. Neither had slept at all, they were too overwhelmed by everything that awaited them. When they met back up, Eden was dressed in the same clothes that she’d traveled in, and Ezra had dressed up, putting on a sweater over a collared shirt and dress pants. Eden was almost amused, but she was so used to it by now, she couldn’t be surprised. “I like doing life with you, Harvard,” she simply stated, and he gave an impish scoff, barely able to contain a small smile.

“The pleasure is all mine, Miss Eden Reims.”

A thorough tour of the barns and the main house resulted in several hours spent and a good amount of knowledge gained about the layout of the facilities, the amenities, and the horses. One of Emily’s horse breeding partnerships was an old friend of Eden’s. An admirer, moreso. Arturo had sold Eden many horses, and he’d dreamt of the day he could get her to agree to a partnership. Through Emily, he didn’t have to. She wasn’t surprised to find four horses assigned to her name instead of three, beside a note from Emily passing on a message from Arturo. Ezra also had an extra horse, for he hadn’t known the Cooleys were sending one his way when he filled out the application to join this farm. Izzy was already on the plane to Virginia by the time Ezra got the call, so she’d arrived and been immediately shipped here with the first shipment of Emily’s horses.

After arriving at Kirche a little after nine, the pair explored the upper part where the offices and the alleged “other gym” resided. Meeting spaces lingered as well, all unoccupied. There was a single light on in an office all the way at the back of the old chapel building, in the office designated Monroe Beyer - ‘A’ Team Dressage Instructor. Eden was interested in meeting her coach, someone she knew she’d competed against on multiple occasions. They’d never officially met as far as Eden could remember, and it wasn’t a bad idea to make friends this early on. Ezra didn’t mind either, he’d make an impression for the sole purpose of boosting his own self-esteem. Eden knocked on the door, Ezra lingering behind her. He didn’t want to take attention away from her, considering Monroe wasn’t his coach. He had no real desire in making friends with anyone, they’d come as they always did. Waiting for a response, the pair looked at each other, wondering if she’d even heard them knock.

Ivie Torres | Eli

Ivie reached the bottom of the steps just in time to see a tall, curly-haired figure studying the sheet she'd initially been to. As much as it pained her to complete the unspeakable horror of asking for help, she couldn't feign competence with luggage in the hallway and no key card access.

"Hey, you," Ivie called, feet planted firmly on the foyer floor. "Do you know anything about getting key card access?"

As he lingered in the door, a blonde woman emerged from the grandiose foyer doors. Ivie had to consciously remove the scowl from her face. The woman was tall, rich-looking, and seemed to have a smile permanently glued to her face. For those reasons and many more, Ivie immediately hated her.

"Hello!" She chirped, and Ivie rolled her eyes, her face loud despite all attempts to appear neutral and unfeeling. "I'm Emily! I can help you get checked in, and then show you around."

"That won't be neces-"

Emily studied Ivie for a few seconds, and without moving her permanent smile or falsely cheery expression, replied, "I'm sorry, you must've misheard me! A tour of the estate is required for all new members as a part of orientation. It must've been the accent, thank you for your patience with me. Name?"

Ivie paled quickly, unable to recover. Emily pissed her off, her accent was perfectly clear and the whole ordeal was rather uncalled for. "Ivie Torres," she replied, thin-lipped and stoic. She directed her gaze to the tall man as Emily asked him for his name. Talking to him had been a waste of effort, but as she went to glare at him with resignation, she realized he looked familiar. Where from, she could hardly place...

Eli Ray | Ivie

Eli half way turned around with a huff. He faced a fiery woman with a scowl on her face. Making assumtions about her already, he barely had time to return the sour expression before another woman walked in. Definitely the owner. The blonde thought.

Emily went on with her information and it was quite ammusing seeing the other young woman, Ivie was her name, get shut down. He had to stifle a chuckle. Then, she asked for his name. Begrudgingly, with a slight glance over to Ivie, he spoke. "Eli Ray." His tone was dull. Orientation. The worst part. Especially if he had to share the same space with Ivie. He did not have good feelings about her at all.

Eli glanced over at her again. Oh god. He realized now that he's seen her before. Briefly, but it was after the grain incident. He shoved his hands further in his coat pockets hoping she didn't remember. He came here to escape everyone he knew. She ruined it.

Ivie | Eli

Ivie listened carefully when he gave Emily his name, but it didn't jog her memory any more. Still, she couldn't shake the feeling that she recognized him from somewhere. The feeling was definitely mutual if his demeanor and appearance were anything to go off of. He'd paled significantly, and his cheeks were flushed, uneven with his skin tone. He refused to make eye contact with her, or even look in her general direction. In fact, his feet were pointed away from her, his hips turned. He'd crossed his arms, and in some act of mutual resistance, she crossed hers immediately after.

"Ray, Ray...oh! There you are. Rooms 119 and 219, what a coincidence! Both stable hands, both show jumpers...seems like you have a lot in common. Since you're both here, we might as well tour you both together. Come right this way, we'll get the office working on your identification cards while I find someone to show you around."

Ivie couldn't help rolling her eyes again. If her card wasn't made yet, she was definitely stuck with Eli for the next ten minutes or more. And Emily, until she could find someone else, who was probably equally as agreeable and annoying, to show them around. This was not the day she had imagined in her mind.

Monroe and Athlone | M: e/o, Eden, Ezra

Snow collapsed beneath their feet as Monroe led her brother to Stadt. Having driven this way many times in the past few weeks, the uphill road was already looking like home to her. Undoubtedly she would prefer to drive up, but she knew that Athlone liked the cold and took the excuse to walk with him there. Being native, they were both used to weather like this anyway. They had gone to Stadt together like this once or twice already so that Athlone could see his horse, but Monroe hadn't wanted to bring him along consistently until the estate was lively with residents. He never said much about it, so Monroe assumed he didn't mind.

Coming up on Krankenhaus was magical to her when it was covered in rolling white. She had seen the place a few times before ever knowing what it was, as they had lived in the town below for some time. It was different up close. Never had she imagined that she'd be training international riders at a retired asylum, and the thought continued to amuse her every time she wandered the Gipfel. Krankenhaus made Athlone uncomfortable and he tried to keep away from it as much as he could. A lot of the places around Stadt upset him for one reason or another, but it was hard to avoid it when he was bound to his older sister’s directions. He sighed to himself seeing her eyes gleam and dance around.

Monroe spent the entire first arrival day trying to assist the grumpy, exhausted foreigners that arrived intermittently from dawn to dusk. She found some of them amusing and others quite irritating. At some points she laughed to herself at how unqualified she probably was to be any sort of guide to them. Athlone was occasionally dragged into her feat, but he was able to hide from her most of the day. He visited with his mare Eschenfrau, sunk into the deep parts of the snow to relax, and went into Monroe’s office for warmth in a constant cycle until they headed home at night. Unfortunately he hadn't dried off from his last play in the snow when they had to walk home, so the harsh cold made him shiver and go numb. Monroe said over and over again how he was going to get sick, but he was fine when morning came around.

The next day started the same. Early in the morning the siblings trekked all the way up to the estates, this time with a lot more tired complaining from Athlone, and Monroe went off around the property helping wherever she could. Athlone hung out near Eschenfrau and tried to relax until Monroe needed him. He ended up following her around the whole property like a puppy and holding things for her. Their interactions were a lot more tense that day for no clear reason, and they reached a point where every response, even a helpful one, was full of contempt. It was exhausting to both of them how regular this was, but each blamed the other. She had him doing errands for her until a few remarks turned into a full argument alone outside of Kirche. It quickly became personal, and they went on harshly until Athlone suddenly froze and started to cry. Somewhere in the mess Monroe had hit on something she shouldn't have, and being that Athlone hardly ever cried, she was immediately filled with the regret of knowing she'd actually hurt him.

He tried to push her off of him, but she held on to him and rushed him to her new office so no one would see him, backtracking frantically on everything she had said and aimlessly apologising. He was silent and unreceptive. Frustrated, Monroe locked them in her office, sighed, and sat down in defeat, trying to find something she could work on while he got over it himself. The boy curled up in the corner with an angry expression and pink eyes, near silent tears falling for quite a long time before they ceased. Even then, he stayed in his little ball and wouldn't look at Monroe. Without a word she dropped a small mess of cards next to him so he wasn't just sitting there thinking about it. Athlone liked sorting things, so she was relieved when he hesitantly scooped them up and began sorting them near to his chest.

About that time she heard a knock at the door. At first she panicked, but when she looked back at her brother and saw that it wasn't immediately apparent that he’d been crying, she calmed down and prepared herself to greet whoever was out there. She loved meeting people, and she was very curious who needed her. She just hated anyone speculating about the nature of her relationship with Athlone. Slowly unlocking the office door, she reminded herself that she needed to speak English and rehearsed some phrases in her head in hopes of minimizing mistakes.

“Hello!” Monroe’s face glowed and she tried to shake the hand of the woman now in front of her. “Come in?” She invited them to step inside the office as she turned and walked to the back. Two people greeted her, a dark haired man and a tall blonde. They looked friendly enough, and Monroe had to consciously stifle her excitement. She glanced between them and asked, “How are you called?” Athlone took a slow, anxious look at the strangers, then tried to halfway hide his face in his sleeve, continuing to mess with the cards in one hand.

Katarena Suta & Sullivan Doyle | Alexander Littlewood

After a long and exhaustive trip, Rena, Alex, and Ivan finally made it to Germany. It was not the move she had intended to take, but none of the relocations Rena had endured in the last five years had been intentional. Not many of the life choices she’d made in her life had been. In fact, most had been at her expense, for the common good. She wasn’t sure if that made her a saint or a doormat, and she assumed she’d spend the rest of her life trying to figure that out.

Flying with Alex was worse than she thought it would be, if not for the memories, then for the awkward, tense silence that lingered in the space between them. Very few words were exchanged, even when they were stuck in the airport together overnight. Even when they only had each other to rely on in an environment that made both of them squirm.

By the time they reached the smaller, local airport, Rena was exhausted. Physically and emotionally. Her state of consciousness was so altered from sleep deprivation that she thought she’d heard Alex talking to her once, like he’d done long ago during a Virginia summer. She couldn’t tell if it was a dream or a reality, and frankly, she didn’t have the capacity to try to respond to either. She didn’t have the capacity to do much. Her living arrangement in London had gone sour through no fault of her own, and she’d lost friends because of it. The only ones she’d had left. On top of that, Sofi still refused to talk to Rena or Alex. The memory of tears streaked down her face played in her memory on a constant loop, alongside the other moments that haunted her. You both deserve each other, all you know how to do is leave and break things. People. Go to hell. She couldn’t shake the words the girl had said. It wasn’t supposed to end like this.

“Something about this place is unsettling,” Rena said softly as she and Alex walked up the front steps. “It feels…cold, like death.” She didn’t bother to tell him about the visions flashing through her mind of what the place looked like in its former glory, or the awful things that had occurred. Only being a month removed from her own traumatic psychological experience, she couldn’t tell what was real and what she was the result of her own projection. Besides that, Alex didn’t know the full extent of her gift for reading things, and she’d already surprised him more than enough in the past twenty four hours with her language skills. Being multilingual had saved them more than once on their trip, and it had certainly come as a shock to Alex. After they’d been through so much together, she forgot just how little they knew about each other.

When they entered the large foyer, Rena flinched, feeling the effects of the house. She tried not to make it obvious, but knowing how astute Alex was when it came to her, she was sure it’d come up eventually. Before she could say or do anything further, a familiar figure appeared from behind a door in the massive entrance. It appeared more like a ballroom.

“I wondered when you two’d show up,” Sullivan grinned. “I just found out yesterday you agreed to come, I almost called you myself to see if it was true.”

“Sullivan,” Rena greeted, almost pulled out of her permanently neutral, unfeeling state. She left her suitcase beside Alex and walked over, wrapping her arms around his midsection tightly. He couldn’t ignore the feeling that filled his chest. It’d started the second he saw her, and it only increased as her head hit his chest. She was so small in comparison to him, and the feelings that were arising made him stop for a second, unable to comprehend anything other than Rena. He knew she had this effect on people, but never on him.

Slightly uncomfortable with himself, Sullivan forced his gaze up to Alex. He smiled sheepishly. “How was the trip?” When he glanced back down to where Rena was still facing him, barely removed from their embrace, he realized there were tears streaming silently down her face despite no indication that she had been anything other than fine previously. “Rena? Are you crying? What’s wrong?” He glanced up to the tall, dark-haired man across the foyer, assuming he had some indication of what was happening. For all Sullivan knew, the pair could’ve broken up on the flight over. He hadn’t kept up with either of them much over the years other than following their social media accounts. Alex’s was primarily inactive, and Rena had been living some alternate life that seemed to not involve him at all.

Heather Storm | M: Open for Interaction.

Heather would have just gotten her mare hitched to the same side of trailer but with some space between the two equines as she had just hung up Etria's half eaten haynet up for the mare to snack on. She went to her truck to open up her passenger side door to grab her pale beige hat to keep the sun out of her eyes. "Ok, now that I got the both of you out of the trailer. I guess I could try to lead you both in the stables? No, that's a stupid idea since I can't control both horses at once if something goes wrong." The brunette lightly shook her head while muttering to herself, placing her hands on her hips as she tries to think of something while watching her two equines eat their half finished late dinner.

The young woman sharply turned on her heels to make her way over to the trailer side door of where her stored tack is, taking the keys out of her front left pocket before unlocking it then she opens the door before taking a step inside the kinda small space, double checking to see if she has brought everything that she needed from home that certainly didn't get left behind. Eclipse would be munching on his hay before turning his head with his ears perked as he had just watched his rider go inside the kinda small space to do something which the stallion let out a soft snort from his black muzzle. Etria would also be looking but the dapple grey soon resumed back to eating, shifting her weight as she cocks her left back leg a bit to relax as the mare was getting kinda use to their new surroundings.

Eden + Ezra / Athlone, Monroe

Eden accepted the woman’s invitation to enter the office, fighting the urge to let her eyes wander around the office. She hadn’t seen any of the offices yet, and she was interested to see what they looked like. Emily had done a lot of redecorating, and Eden wanted to see to what extent the upstairs of Kirche had been furnished. She was overly fanatical about architecture and interior design, having majored in it in college. She was also interested to see what Monroe had contributed to the space, and how much she’d brought in. She could easily tell a lot about a person based on how they decorated any given space.

Still, she wanted to give her coach her whole attention, especially because her position on the ‘A’ team wasn’t guaranteed. Having almost the same number of qualifications as Monroe to be teaching the ‘A’ team didn’t mean much, especially depending on the kind of person she was. If she felt threatened by Eden, or was in any way competitive or vindictive, the exact thing that would make her impressive to one coach might land her a spot on the ‘B’ team with this one. She couldn’t afford that, not with the forward momentum she’d been accruing prior to this move, not with the articles circulating about the potential of her replacing one of the older riders on Team Canada. If she didn’t make the team, she’d be forced to make some even more drastic decisions regarding her future and her life.

“Eden,” the blonde smiled, but it didn’t reach her eyes. She regarded herself with a sense of self-importance that couldn’t be mistaken. She glanced back to Ezra who was zoning out, studying something or another–some minute detail she was sure he’d be ranting about later. “This is my friend Ezra. I just wanted to introduce myself, I am trying out for the dressage team you’re coaching. We saw your light was on, so we thought we’d drop in to say hello.”
