General Anubis AKA: Craptain Jack Spare-Ribs ++++
Leo arched an eyebrow, smiling. "You do? I could prove it to you." He grinned. "Plus, I've caught worms before. I need to, to fish. Nightcrawlers are better, though. Best way to find 'em is go to some damp earth, take a couple shovel fulls, and search through that." His voice faded into musing, but he quickly refocused as she yelped. "There's a root there." He pointed out helpfully. "Why'd you trip? Distracted by brilliance?" He asked with a charming grin, though he couldn't help but muffle a chuckle afterwards. "Yeahhhhhh- you're right. Completely invincible, not even able to get a scratch." He fixed his words cheerfully, then scowled at her. "Whyyy do you have to remember?" He whined, then raised his eyebrows. "Uh huh. Sure. Believe what you want, sweetheart." He drawled in a thick accent, rolling his eyes. "I am not a CHICKEN! And you should appreciate the fact I don't WANT to hurt you! You saw what happened to the Corrupted when I fought them!' He huffed indignantly. "I could hurt you, I just don't want to. The end. Period. No more argument. Case closed."

Lieutenant Dwyer Glory grinned at his unnecessary proof of worm-catching ability before huffing indignantly at him. "Gee, thanks Captain Obvious. I'd be lost without you, Nostradamus. Sure, that's it, I was so totally impressed with how much you know about catching worms." Truthfully, she was a little distracted by him. "I remember because I know you won't, or will pretend you forgot," She huffed, then rolled her eyes at his next comment. "I'll believe what's true, honeybunch," She lilted with a sly grin. "Awww, how sweet of you, really. I do appreciate the fact that you chose to come with me instead of hanging out with Romanov and Simara, " She teased.

General Anubis AKA: Craptain Jack Spare-Ribs +++ Leo smirked at her indignant huff. "You're welcome! And you already called me Nostradamus, pick a different insult." He grinned, then took a dragon-y bow. "Of course you were! I can't blame you, worm catching, especially nightcrawler catching, is a thrilling sport." He joked lightly, then huffed. "I would NEVER pretend to forget. I would, however, actually forget." He then sniffed, looking slighty offended. Even though he wasn't. "Eurgh- that - I regret what I said, please don't torture me-" He winced in mental pain at the word honeybunch, trying not to internally die and become a corpse-soul. "Romanov hates me and Simara detests me. Of course I chose the only person who'll talk to me like I'm an idiot rather than a piece of scum!" He scoffed sarcastically, flinching slightly as he heard the screech of a bird. He was still thinking about the nightmare, and it was putting him on edge.

Lieutenant Dwyer Glory frowned slightly. "Oh shit, I did. My bad, Socrates," she shot back. "Oh yes, utterly thrilling and so very competitive! I bet you've beat Romanov quite a few times, though I imagine you don't even tell him he's competing," She lilted with an air of haughtiness, like British nobility. "Aww, but it's so fun! And you brought it on yourself, really," She said with a sly grin. "No, I think that's just Romanov. I'd say he tolerates you slightly less than most. Simara though, I'm not gonna try to argue that," She retorted with a laugh. Glory saw him flinch, and nudged the side of his neck with her snout. "You're not fine, something's bothering you. What is it?" She asked gently.

General Anubis AKA: Craptain Jack Spare-Ribs +++ Leo rolled his eyes. "You're the worst." He sniffed, his haughty tone strong. "Very thrilling! But the fishing part is more interesting. And I totally could beat Romanov! I haven't tried yet, but that's a good idea. Thanks." He grinned, then made a face. "Not fun." He protested in a grumbly voice. "Romanov hates me. And Simara detests me." Leo repeated, stubborn on that point. He had pissed off Romanov one to many times. He stared at the forest for a couple seconds, glancing at her as she nudged his neck. He had a flash of doubt and uncertainty cross his face at her question, but it seemed like he quickly decided to play it off, rather then be truthful. "I am fine. There's noth-" He got cut off as the wind picked up, cracking a branch off that landed in front of them. More than flinching, he jerked backwards, his nostrils flaring for a second. He could still feel the same fear that was now haunting him. "Nothings wrong..." He finally mumbled very unconvincingly, ducking hus head.

Lieutenant Dwyer Glory grinned proudly and said, "Yes I am. Oh, that better be an invitation to take me fishing as well, though I'd prefer not to try after a trip to the bar," She added, wrinkling her nose. "Alright, yes, he hates you," She agreed after a moment of consideration. Glory flinched and tensed as a branch broke, teeth bared, before relaxing as she realized it was just the wind in a dead tree. She turned and sat right in front of him, ducking her head to meet his gaze. "Yes there is, tell me," She said softly.

General Anubis AKA: Craptain Jack Spare-Ribs +++ Leo looked at her with a snort. "That's a lot of promises I've made, now. Fight, bar, fishing... I may not stay alive along enough to do all that." He laughed lightly, then nodded "yeah. I don't want to do that after a trip to the bar, either. I've tried it before, and it did NOT end well. I figured out fish can fly, and I cannot breathe underwater!" He smiled, then stretched his wings out, then tucked them in as his expression fell. Way down. As Glory sat in front of him, he averted his gaze, staring at the ground. "I can't- I can't I can't I can't-" He closed his eyes for a moment. "I can't deal with it anymore.." He finally hissed, backing up, shaking his head. It was like he was reliving that moment, over and over and over. Her screams still echoed in his head. Her pain and his terror combined. He lifted his paws to his scaled head, dragging it over his face and down his snout. It was an overexaggerated manner, but it had to be to get all the way down his face. "I had a nightmare, okay? Where the Corrupted had captured both of us and they were torturing you to get information out of me that I didn't even know. I couldn't do ANYTHING, Glory. I was helpless and just had to sit there and watch you scream in pain. Then they killed you, and I couldn't do anything. Nothing. All I could do was yell and scream. The terror I felt was like nothing I felt before, and I can't get rid of it. It doesn't matter if you're here, and fine, but I can't shake the fear, the fear that you might be hurt and it might be my fault." The fear in his voice was genuine. His claws slid in and out as he tried not to claw his scales off. "I can't- I CARE about you Glory, as a friend if nothing else. I can't deal with the thought you may get hurt, and I know that sounds selfish because it's YOUR life, and you're not actually in danger right now but ... but I can't..." his shaky voice trailed off. "It's only been an hour, and I'm already going insane. How weak and stupid am I?" He finally whispered, wanting to change Into his human form JUST so he could rake his hands through his hair Edited at June 4, 2024 09:48 PM by Wild West Warmbloods

Lieutenant Dwyer Glory listened as he told her the most horrible thing she'd heard, well, ever, unsure of what to do or say. As he finished, she stood and pulled him close, wrapping her front legs and wings around him, as if trying to hold all his pain and fear. "No, you're not weak, Leo. You've just been strong for too long," she murmured softly, holding him tighter. A black and white dragon landed next to them, and Glory lifted her head, snarling, "Fuck off before I rip your legs off to use as a cane when I'm ancient and make a spear out of your damn ribs. If you show me your godforsaken face again I'll send you to hell myself." She loosened her grasp on Leo only slightly, not wanting to let go, and watched as the dragon flew off again.
