Emery had drifted off when he awoke.
| |
| |

Noah wasn't able to move. He wasn't even breathing on his own, the ventilator was doing that for him. He just looked around, trying to figure out where he was.

He tried to talk, but the mouthpiece of his ventilator wasn't budging. He whined in protest.
| |

Emery awoke to his whine, eyes squinted from having been asleep. "Huh what?" She asked groggily, looking around before staring at Noah and blinking a few times before lighting up. "Oh fuck you're awake," The woman said excitedly, wiping her face dry.

| |
| |

Noah whined again, tears brimming his eyes.
| |

Emery started crying tears of joy, taking his hand in hers. "I didn't think you were going to make it, not many did." She said, smiling at him as she spoke.
| |
| |

Noah fought against the mouthpiece with his tongue, but did not win. He whined again, tears drilling down his face.
| |

Emery just smiled at him, pressing the button on his bed, a few doctors coming in and checking on him. They'd removed the mouthpiece and left, Emery just continuing to cry happy tears.
| |
| |

Noah gasped for his own clean air, breathing on his own now. "Em..." he murmured in a very raspy voice.
