The woman smiled and sort of went to peck his forehead. "We've had a long few days babe," she hummed gently to him. She sort of looked him over for a moment before letting out a breath she didn't even know she was holding. "Well I won't tell you because as far as you know you look gorgeous," she mused lightly. She pouted in thought for a moment before sort of dropping her shoulders. "The doctor said the smoke from the tavern is still effecting you," she muttered, "you were on a ventilator for a couple days... seems it helped."

Sage hummed quietly when Mari explained the last few days, closing his eyes and resting his head against hers when she moved to kiss his head. He chuckled lightly when she said he looked gorgeous, humming as if in thought before musing, "I'll just imagine I look like sleeping beauty, yeah." Then, he gave her a mischievous grin. "I might need a kiss to fully recover," he joked before sombering up when she explained what had happened, nodding slightly. "Well I feel ok now," he admitted before sighing. "Of course the stupid tavern still makes me feel like shit," he grumbled, admittedly pretty annoyed that he couldnt just live his life without the tavern getting in the way.

The woman gave a small sigh to the boy before pecking his head again. "I'm sorry babe, I think if you got a kiss now you'd pass you again," she mused gently to the boy before moving to peck his hand. Her brows pinched a little at him before short of shaking her head. "Hunny, it's always going to have an effect on you," she murmured softly. "But we can manage it. You should have told me something was wrong. We could have done something," she murmured gently to him.

Sage sort of chuckled lightly in response to her comment, humming as if in thought when she kissed his head. "I'll just have to settle for cuddles," he mused, really still just joking around, though knowing the girl was there with him was definitely the only thing keeping him from freaking out. At least, at first. He'd calmed down a bit by now, obviously, but it could have been a lot worse. He frowned slightly, grumbling an 'i know" about the tavern before sighing tiredly. 'i was fine. I was coughing a bit and I was more tired than usual but that's not normallu something I need to worry that much about," he huffed. He knew he wasn't the healthiest guy out there, but a small cough shouldn't have almost killed him. He supposed it had been festering in there for a while though...and he'd honestly always expected that something like this would happen. He'd never completely get away from the tavern....no matter how hard he tried. It would always haunt him.

The woman gave a small smile to him before nodding gently. "Just settle for cuddles," she hummed gently to him before moving to wrap an arm around his side gently. "I can give you those without you dying, can I?" She mused gently to the boy before sort of sitting down in the side of his bed. She frowned at him after a moment before sort of moving to run her hands though his hair with a heavy breath. "Just... you know what to do next time, hm? If anything is wrong just say something. I can keep an eye on you from home but not if I don't know anything is wrong," she hummed softly to him before sort of moving to look out the window. "I don't think you're gonna get much better after slll this, but like I said, we can manage it if need be," she hummed softly.

Sage chuckled softly in response to her comments before curling up against her side, resting his head on her chest happily. "I think I can manage," he hummed lightly before sighing and nodded. "I guess I just figured it wouldn't be that bad," he admitted. "Thought I'd gotten healthy enough that I'd get over it in a couple days, or if I didn't get over it in a couple days, I could just drive us all down here and get a medicine, visit, and come home," he added with a shrug. Though, he sighed and glanced down at his chest for a moment with a nod. 'im guessing I won't be running around with the horses anytime super soon," he noted before frowning slightly. "maybe I can get more art done in the meanwhile and still keep up with bills and such," he thought out loud.

The woman gave a small smile when he curled in, glad he felt well enough to cuddle up. She buried her nose into his hair and drew in a soft breath after a moment. "You'd better manage it," she hummed softly. She was silent for a moment, eventually shaking her head at him. "Right now we just need to assume everything can kill to babe," she mused gently to him. "Anything. So much as a sniffle babe and I want you to tell me," she murmured softly to him. She sighed gently after a moment. "Just don't hide anything, mk?" She asked him softly. She then nodded softly to him. "Anthony will help out, I'm sure, if not I can hire some hands to help out," she hummed lightly to him.

Sage sort of sighed in response to her comment, nodding slightly. "Promise," he hummed, figuring she'd be keeping a keen eye on him anyway, for a while. He nodded too, before his brows furrowed more when she mentioned hiring someone. "Mari we don't make that much money," he murmured. "And we don't have room to house anyone either," he added, biting his lower lip. He hated to be the reason for this, and he hated even more to be spending their life savings because he'd caught some kind of cold that his lungs apparently couldn't handle. Even Anthony had been at their place, doing his work, much more than he liked. It just didn't seem fair, and the older boy had a life.

The woman gave a small sigh before nodding to him. "Sage, hun, I don't think it's something you need to worry about. There's always kids we can have coming to help out just to spend time with the horses. We can't chuck it all on my bother again," she murmured softly to him, her hands running gently though his hair. "We'll figure something out. I'm sure we can... we'll find something," she murmured softly to him.

Sage sighed softly in response to her comment, nodding but in all honesty he just wasn't sure how this would work out. They managed, but they weren't super well off....and if he couldn't work they'd just be dipping out of life savings. Life saving he knew Mari and the kids would need, since he knew they'd all most likely outlive him. It wasn't something they had talked about.... actually, they hadn't discussed it at all....but when he did die, they needed to have enough to live off of well already there for them. "I hope so," he hummed, leaning against her and closing his eyes again, sort of slowly drifting back off into sleep, by then exhausted again.
