The woman sat there for a minute, really just taking a moment to gather herself. She wasn't really registering what was happening, though when she felt her hand squeezed she sort of looked up at her husband. Upon seeing him awake, she sort of flinched before wrapping him up in a hug. She was so quiet... but obviously pleased he was up. Was he okay? Hopefully. She sort of moved to peck his cheek before running her thumb along his cheek. He couldn't talk much... but she wished he could.

Sage sort of grunted when the girl wrapped herself around him, though it just came out as a kind og huff of air due to the tube in him. He patted her back though, the other hand still entwined in her hand. He rested his head agaisnt hers, wishing he could hold her and tell her he was alright. Of course, he wasn't sure what exactly had happened yet....which he did want to know about. But for now, he was just glad the girl was there with him when he woke up. He was a bit nervous about it all....and it probably would have been a lot worse to wake up like this without anyone there.

The woman sort of looked over at him after a moment before furrowing her brows quietly. She pecked his forehead before going to grab the doctor. He said they couldn't rely on the pump. She noted the old man that Sage was up... but he needed to check. She just wanted to hear his voice... make sure he was okay. She sighed softly and sort of sat on the edge of the bed, just kind of looking at her husband quietly.

Sage sort of waited for the girl to come back, figuring she'd gone to grab the doctor but still rather confused as to what had happened. He reached for her hand again when she came back in, sprt of wishing she'd do ro say soemthing other than just sit there quietly. But he couldn't talk back, so there wasn't much point to it. When the old man came in, he sort of explained the tube, which was mroe or less what Sage had excpected it to be for. The doctor was in soon, and seemed mroe than happy to take the tube out of him, which sage himself had no issues with either, so he did what the doctor told him to, the tube sliding out caising a moment of coughing before his lungs decided to work again and he could murmur a quiet thanks to the doctor, who patted his shoulder before handing him a glass of water to sip at and then moved to move all the tubes out of the room. He glanced over at Mari then, giving her a sort of tired but alert smile. "how long," he asked quietly, voice raspy from the tube being in for so long but strong even though it was quiet.

The woman gave the doctor a happy smile before moving to squeeze Sages hand. He said she awake... and now he was talking. It was quiet... but it made her so happy to hear it. She pecked his knuckles before giving him a small smile. He was smiling at her. That could only make her so, so happy. She sighed softly at his question before giving a nod. "Not long... two ish days," she murmured softly to him.

Sage sort of blinked tiredly at the girl and nodded in response to her comments, sighing slightly. His chest still felt a bit tight, but he couldn't really feel much since the whole area was pretty well numbed up. Which he was thankful for, because looking at the large area they'd sewn back together he was pretty sure he didn't want to feel it. It was sort of an amusing thought, though knowing he'd had his whole chest opened up was a bit weird. He nodded when she said he wasn't out for long though, but then frowned slightly. "the kids ok," he asked, not knowing where they'd been or how they'd been kept busy.

The woman looked down at him, not really hearing what he was saying for a moment. God, she was just so relieved he was awake. Breathing. She stared at him for a moment before quickly nodding. "Yeah. Yes, the kids are okay. They're with their grandmother," she murmured softly to him before moving to peck his nose. "They didn't know anything was up," she murmured softly. They still didn't. She didn't want to worry them... not when she wasn't sure how to help them and Sage.

Sage nodded softly when Mari said the kids were alright. Good, he hadn't wanted to scare them or anything. It was good they didn't know anything bad had happened. It was just a normal trip to Grandma's for them. Mari, on the other hand, was still looking rather frazzled. "And you," he asked quietly, squeezing her hand gently. "You look terrible," he teased her lightly, knowing he probably looked way worse than she did, considering the circumstances and all the medicine that was rolling through his body at the moment.

The woman gave a gentle smile after a moment before shaking her head. "I've barely slept," she mused softly. It was nice that he was trying to make a joke... he didn't seem as worried as she was. Well, she supposed he didn't know how wrong this could have gone for him either. "And you look just as bad," she murmured lightly to him, her brows pinching together a little. "We weren't sure that you'd wake up," she muttered softly.

Sage hummed in response to her comment, giving the girl a crooked grin. "Well, you were passed out pretty well when I woke up," he teased gently, shrugging in response to her tease back. "I'm not sure I want to know what I look like at the moment,' he admitted, squeezing her hand gently when she admitted they hadn't known if he'd have woken up. "What exactly happened," he asked. "I don't remember anything but blacking out after realizing it sort of hurt to breath," he told her, brows pinching slightly.
