Sage heard her voice, but once again couldn't understand what exactly she was saying. He had worked out that she was making a joke if some form, which was good to hear. His eyes were closed but he didn't really want to fall asleep, he didn't know if he could force himself to wake up if he did that. But now that they were back outside and Anya was safe, he found himself relaxing more and more. He could still be in danger...he was literally surrounded by the queen and some of the same guards who had whipped him before, though he doubted they remembered him. Either way, he tried to stay focused on Anya...she'd keep him safe, he knew that....which was a slightly odd thought since he was normally the one who was labeled as the protector. But they weren't in the streets anymore...this was out of his zone. Anya would have to be the one more in charge here, which he knew she could do, she'd already started bossing people around based off of how he was carried to the carriage and then into the castle, to a room that looked quite familiar, though his brain couldn't place it.

It wasn't a particularly long ride to the castle... maybe thirty minutes, maximum. It would have taken so much longer if she were to walk... actually, it had taken her a good ten minutes to get up the castle stairs once they had arrived. She had been welcomed back, by everyone but her father. Though, her welcomes were empty. She had also been given a fair amount of odd looks... that was fair, though. She was a mess. Her dress looked too big, and she was still covered in blood got knows what else... and she had Sage next to her. That, for sure, was a very strange sight. But Anya just wanted to get cleaned up and get some propper rest. But she she had to sort Sage out... find him a room, somewhere comfortable, with space, and find a maid or two to tend to him. She said that he could come to hers whenever, but he would surely want some time apart from her after so long of being stuck with her. She would give him that. And when he was ready, he could leave, go back out on the streets or stay if he really wanted.

Sage was aware enough to know that they put him in a room...on a bed, probably to rest for a bit before they sent him off again. Anya had probably convinced her mother to help him out a bit, which was really nice of the girl, and he did appreciate it, but he'd been laying there asleep for weeks. Sleep wasnt what hed really need. And it wasn't what Anya really needed either. Food, water, or at least something with a bit of nutrients so he could sleep and wake up strong enough to feed himself. That was, if he could hold down solid food. His shoulder was still raw, so he'd have to stitch that up too. They were in there for so long without being able to eat or drink much, thing hadn't healed yet. He still had marks in his neck from their night in the cave, and that was weeks ago. He knew Anya was probably eating and getting some rest, but he wished he could see her, or at least know where she was. Even if she was back home, he wanted to make sure she was alright. Happy. But he could barely stay awake, let alone go search for the girl.

While Anya had tried her hardest to look after Sage, to make sure that a platter of kind foods had been handed to him, and that he could get some water, she seemed to be everyone else's priority. Foods, rich foods were handed to her, though she could barely look at them without feeling ill... what she needed was something simple... bread, or maybe some sort of pasta. Still, she would try to eat just a little bit. What she had tried had nearly come back up a few times, so just a bite was all she could manage... which was good, considering she couldn't hold any foods in when they had been locked away. She had been run a bath and cleaned up a little, but it didn't make her feel at all any better. All though cleaned up, she just felt disgusting. Like nothing would go back to normal again. She didn't look any better either... still pale, almost green. After just sitting around for weeks, you'd think she'd be wanting to move, to do something, but no. All she wanted to do was rest... sleep, and hope that when she woke up everything would be the same as it was when she had first left for the castle. Back to when she and Sage were really just friends, and when they hadn't been followed about by strangers... when things were just a little more simple. But that wasn't going to happen. She and Sage weren't just friends, not now, not after the cave, and things weren't going to go back to the way there were. She couldn't just dream all the bad things away. Right now, she was a lot stronger than Sage, and he needed her to make sure he was alright... that he was being looked after the way she had expected. She had instructed someone to send the doctor to see him and treat him whatever he could, even if that was just stitching him up and making sure there was no infection. Anya would go and see him later... when she was informed that he could at least talk... then, she could make sure he wasn't too overwhelmed. He didn't even have to be talking again just yet, she could simply go and sit with him for a while... to be there for him like he would want to be there for her.

Sage was dimly aware of a man coming into the room...the doctor he assumed. The man was probably tired of having to heal him, he noted, amused at the thought. The doctor peeled the fabric off his shoulder, causing Sage to grunt in pain. The doctor dissapeared for a minute, then placed a rag over Sage's face. He wasn't sure what was on it, but it was damp, and it was making his entire body relax and lull him to sleep. He panicked briefly, having some less than stellar experiences with people using other substances to take advantage of him, but the doctor was only going to help...he'd most likely have to do some form of surgery and knocking him out would help both of them. He'd given him something through a tube too, which he assumed was some form of nutrition and water that he'd hopefully be able to keep down. He passed out about fifteen seconds after the doctor placed the rag over his mouth and nose, wondering briefly if he'd manage to wake up before shrugging it off. The doctor obviously thought he would, and he wasn't gonna give up easily.

The girl let herself lay dimly on her bed, relaxing into the soft mattress. She wasn't tired, per se, but more exhausted, physically. She couldn't sleep, not if she tried, but she found that every movement she made was so slow... so shaky. Her arm was still sore, but she didn't expect that it was something that needed to be seen by the doctor... much to her dismay, Sage had popped it back into place, and it was healing... slowly, given that she hadn't really had the nutrition to do much, but it was healing nevertheless. She held her hand up in the air for a while, watching as it still shook. The girl sighed slightly, before deciding that she could start slowly making her way towards Sage's room... by the time she got there it would probably be late, especially at the pace she was going at, but she still needed to make sure the boy was alright... She had dragged him to her home, and although she was barely walking, Sage was her guest, and she would make sure to keep an eye on him.

Sage was out for a while, and when he opened his eyes again the doctor was still in the room, putting away equipment and getting some bandages and other stuff. His vision was clearer now, and he could see and hear pretty much the same as normally, which was good. He relies heavily on his senses, so not having them wasn't pleasant. The doctor looked over at him and sighed, muttering something about how he was the most stubborn kid he'd ever met before draping the cloth over Sage's face again. Well fine then, apparently the doctor wasn't completely done. It seemed like he was just putting some stuff in his shoulder, but he supposed the doctor just wanted him passed out instead of awake. It would hurt, maybe the doctor didn't want him to have to deal with it. That, and more likely, the doctor just didn't want to have to hold him still or anything while he worked. Sage was fine with that, but the dim voice in the back of his head wondered what Anya was doing...the doctor was clearly here, but she'd been hurt too. He set her arm, but a doctor would probably still be helpful. He was almost asleep when he felt the doctor turn his head to look at the marks on his neck and chuckle slightly. That was an unexpected reaction, but sage fell asleep before he knew anymore or could wonder about it much.

Anya found herself cursing herself for putting Sage on the other side of the castle... but it was the biggest spare room that they had. Really, it was fit for royalty. Someone that had a place in the castle... and equal to her family. But in Anya's eyes, Sage was her equal. She would open every door for him, give him her world... but, giving him a decent room was all that she could manage for the time being. She found herself sitting on a step when she was halfway there, trying to get a breath. She had gone up and down these stairs for the last seventeen years of her life... so the fact that she needed to stop and breathe was astounding to her. Eventually, she mustered the energy to keep on going, though she was using the wall to drag herself there. Soon enough (well, more like half an hour later, with about seven rest breaks in between) she was outside the door, gently knocking on it. She didn't know if the doctor would still be there... if he was then she could probably do with talking to him. If not, then she could just sit with Sage.. though, she was a little reluctant for him to see her in the state she was in... given, that she had been cleaned up, and she was in something that fitted, but she still felt awful. Whatever... it was just Sage. It wouldn't bother him that she looked ill, hopefully, he would just be happy with the company.

Sage was still asleep when Anya knocked but the doctor told her she could come in since he was just putting his equipment away by now. When Anya walked into the room he continued to work, but he'd set up a chair by the side of the bed sage was on, though there was enough space for her to sit or lay on the bed too. The doctor didn't particularly care what the girl did. Sages breathing and heart rate had gone back to normal by now, and he had color back to his cheeks, though he was still a bit pale. And he was still skinny...he'd need time to regain the weight he's lost, and it would take a while considering he was pretty much as gaunt as you could get. But he'd gotten something in his stomach, and his wounds were dressed, so he'd be healing, thank goodness.

Anya tried a small smile, though it was so... bland. Lifeless, almost. The doctor had known her for years, and whenever things went even slightly wrong, she was always like this... either full of beans, trying to make some sort of joke or she was so, incredibly dull. So far, all of those things had happened. But it wasn't just that something had gone wrong for her, Sage, one of the very few people she could really, really trust had gotten hurt during this. She still felt as though it had been her fault, even if these men didn't want her, if she had never gone out that night Sage would have probably noticed fairly early on that something wasn't right. The girl sighed slightly, going to sit on the edge of Sage's bed. He looked a little healthier, and hopefully, he was on his way to actually getting better. She glanced to the doctor with a slightly raised brow. "All sorted?" She asked with a cocked head.
