The woman softened her face slightly, sort of pecking his cheek as she settled down next to him. "Make sure to look after yourself then. We've just come back from somewhere warm, so you've probably still adjusting..." she hummed in throught, kind of moving to rest her hand on his chest, her thumb moving in a comforting manner. She sort of felt his muscles contract and looked up at him. "You can't supress the coughing babe, it'll just get worse," she mused gently to him. "I'll go grab some respitory relaxers or something tomorrow... it might make things a bit more comefortable for you," she then murmured sleepily.

Sage sort of wrinkled his nose slightly and nodded in response to her comment. "I dunno, it's been a couple of weeks by now," he huffed, giving her a sheepish grin when she figured out he was holding back a cough. "It makes everything else hurt," he snorted. Though he sighed and nodded when she mentioned getting something that could relax his chest and whatnot, moving to peck her cheek lightly. "Sure," he agreed, nestling into her happily. "for now let's just get a good night's sleep and see what happens," he sighed, already admittedly half asleep. He supposed all that coughing took more energy than he'd really realized. He woke a couple hours later though, this time unable to hold the coughs back. He slipped into the bathroom so as not to wake Mari ..though he wasn't sure it would help much, as he'd wound up coughing himself into puking in the toilet. He'd wound up sitting on the bathroom floor, wiping the sweat off his forehead, still definitely wheezing with a definite rattle in his chest. Maybe he should go see the doctor....he was starting to get a little bit worried about it all. He wasn't all that sure he'd make it all the way there by himself though....but he also didn't want to bother Mari. He huffed out a breath best he could, though that started him off coughing again, which he really didn't need. Everything hurt too much already, and more coughing didn't help.

The woman sighed softly to him, staying awake a little longer than him before finally driving off. She had to admit, she was a little hurt that after all these years he still didn't want to trust her enough to tell her about these things... she was never going to be upset about these things, never going to think any less of him. He didn't need to hide this sort of thing from her at all. She woke up a little while later though, to the sound of her husband coughing his guts up and a now empty bed. Her brows furrowed a little, obviously worried but not wanting to overreact. She moved to get him a glass of water and an aspirin, hoping it would make him feel a little less sore... he'd definitely be going to the doctors the next morning. She wandered into the bathroom after a moment, flashing him a pitiful smile as she handed him a water. "Try to drink something... and babe, breathe, yeah?" She hummed gently, just wanting to get him to a state where he could at least breathe.

Sage half jumped when he noticed Mari slide into the bathroom, but gasped out some sort of thank you, raising the glass to his lips. Of course, once he started coughing again it all wound up back in the toilet, so he figured he wasn't going to be drinking anything else for a while. He sort of set it on the floor besides them and flopped against Mari tiredly, closing his eyes and trying to breathe, like she'd said. The coughing had subsided after maybe ten or fifteen minutes, but his chest still felt tight, and there was still a definite rattle in his chest. "sorry if I woke you," he mused after a second, using his shirt to wipe the sweat off his face. Of course, the shirt already had sweat on it, so it didn't do much good, but still.

The woman winced a little when everything seemed to come back up instantly. She shook her head, letting him flop down against her lap. She grabbed a little flannel and gently wiped the sweat off his face before furrowing her brows at him. "No, no, don't worry," she mused softly. He was exhausted, and she could see that. He must have been so sore, too... she let out a soft breath before shaking her head. "Let's go to the doctors tomorrow... Sage you're not well at all," she murmured gently to him.

Sage let the girl move to grab a rag and then flopped back on her shoulder tiredly. He let her wipe his face and neck off, the cloth nice and cold, and it honestly felt really, really nice. He opened his eyes to peer up at her tiredly when she mentioned going to the doctor's, nodding silently before closing them again. "Yeah, I got that," he mumbled quietly before sighing, which set off another burst of coughing, much to his dismay. That one was a bit shorter than the rest, thankfully, but by then he just hurt so much it felt just as bad as the rest. They still had another couple of hours too....he wondered if he'd manage that long. It was a ways away....then he had to hook up chaos, which seemed like an impossible task. He could feel himself crashing, and while he wasn't sure it could get much worse, he assumed this wasn't the end of it all either.

The woman sort of ran her hands through his hair, clearly worried but not sure what to do. "Stay on your side," she murmured softly. She could get him some salts or something to make it easier to breathe.... she didn't know, she wasn't sure. He just looked so tired, she sighed gently to him. He must hurt so badly. His muscles were still contracting as he tried to stop the coughing. "Let's get you done stairs... I'll stay up with you for a while," she murmured softly. She didn't want to wake the kids up either. But Sage needed to rest, and she wanted to be up with him if he needed it.

Sage sort of grunted in response to Maris comment, too tired to even tell her to go get some sleep despite him being ill. He just nodded and allowed her to move him downstairs so they didn't wake the kids and lay down on the couch, curling up on his side like she'd told him to do, resting his head on her lap. He was just thankful he had her to help him out...because it did calm him down a bit just knowing she was there. Plus, the cool rag did feel wonderful on his skin.....she'd figured that out since she'd placed it back on his neck and face once he'd settled down he supposed though. He went downhill the rest of the night, despite Maris attempts to relax his chest. He'd eventually just quote literally passed out on her lap, thoroughly exhausted by then.

The woman sort of half carried him downstairs, and got a little bit of water for him in he felt comfortable enough to... hopefully once he'd had some rest he'd feel a bit better. She got a cold bowl of after for the rag, putting it on his head when need be, occasionally resting them on his neck and chest to help cool down. The next morning, while he was asleep, she quickly had Anthony come over to help set the cart up... they'd take the kids, they were due to see the good doctor anyway. She sighed and moved to sort of peck her husbands cheek after they were ready to go, sort of gently waking him up. "Time to go hun," she murmured softly to him, sort of holding a blanket for him to wrap up in.

Sage sort of stirred with a groan when Mari woke him, immediately coughing as he got up. He wound up having to sit back down and cough for a few minutes before having Mari help him up and out the door. His shoulders sagged with relief when he noted he wouldn't have to set the cart up, and flopped down on the bench tiredly. The kids clambered onto the back, though seemed to understand they needed to stay somewhat quiet, and simply played among themselves as they went along. They got to the castle soon enough, the guards taking chaos and the cart as usual, and the family moved down towards the doctor, who greeted the kids happily before looking at sage and grunting. "You again," he grumbled, earning a tired grin and hug from sage, who by now was mostly only standing up because Mari was keeping him there. "What's going on today," he asked, handing lollipops to both kids with a wink, sending them off to scamper around like they liked to do.
