Ajax seemed to consider it for a moment before nodding slowly. "Oookay. I wont." He answered slowly, chuckling. As Mercy huffed and sat up he immediately knew he had confused her, which he found rather funny. Especially since he wasn't exactly trying to. It had been a joke but still. "Joke: You never listen to my opinion anyway, so? Real answer: you decide, because I know you just love being clingy, but truthfully, I'm warming up to it. Slowly. Very slowly." Ajax answered, the first part rather teasingly as he narrowed his eyes back at her. He didn't bother trying to move, mostly because he didn't want to expend the energy to get up unless neccesary.

Mercy giggled at his answer, pressing a kiss to his neck before sliding off of him and onto the floor. She kept her hands to herself, not touching him in any capacity once she settled herself on the porch. "I see. I'll keep that in mind; smother you with cuddles as often as possible." She joked.

Ajax couldn't help but look amused at Mercy's vocal happiness. He had never met anyone that expressed themselves that way. Then again, he had barely ever been around a lady in his *real* life and he was stuck around rowdy loud dusty foul mouthed cowboys. "Okay then... I guess it is best to learn to like it sooner rather than later." He joked with a grin, staring up at the sky for a moment. Ajax contemplated getting up, but he settled on it was too much wasted energy.

"I love you, Ajax." Mercy quipped lightly, rolling on her side to rest her head on his bicep, since she decided she wanted the contact anyway. She watched with a soft smile, her head tilted slightly as she watched him. It was nice to know She was his first- everything, really, when it came to a relationship.

Ajax heard the words, and hesitated for a moment. He was trying to decide whether to reply jokingly OR actually try. "I love you too, Mercy." He finally said softly, his brain flitting back to his past. If only he could find Lydia (we are going to say that the girl who broke up with him the night before their wedding is named Lydia lol) and strangle her. Or at least mock her with the fact he found someone ten times better. 100 times better. A million times better. Mercy would never leave him- Ajax knew that. A slight smile come onto his face at the thought. Because of this, he pretty much devoted his life, heart, and soul to making Mercy happy- she gave him the one thing he thought he could never have. Love.

Mercy pressed a light kiss onto his arm, tilting her head at him and smiling. She had been in a seriously committed relationship when she died- and sometimes it hurt not to have closure for that. She thought she had been firmly in love with that man, until now. And she realized love was signifigantly different than what she thought. Either way, she shook her head out of her thoughts and took in his thoughtful expression. "What are you thinking about?"

Ajax practically stared into space, his concentration only broken when Mercy spoke. He then glanced over at her, coming back into reality like an anvil dropping on his head. "Lydia and you and how you are, from my conclusion, one million times better than her." He answered truthfully, mostly because his actual thought process was about as hilarious as any joke he could think up. "That is one thing that makes me so glad I'm dead." Ajax mused, his finger tapping the deck as he thought- most people that saw him like this thought he was lazy, and they weren't entirely wrong, but he also swore he had ADHD. He couldn't sit still; he had to be moving one part of him, and sometimes he counted his heartbeat as fidgeting, but most times it was his hands. He also didn't like concentrating on one thing and his brain tended to wander off, unless he thought about Mercy.

Mercy smiled at him as he spoke, chuckling. "Awe. Thanks. She didn't really set the bar very high though." She said lightly, feeling a little fluttery because of his romantic remarks. "Good to know." She teased softly, gently setting her hand over his as he began to tap the porch. She ran her fingers over his knuckles, tracing them gently. "You're too sweet sometimes." She chuckled.

Ajax laughed at Mercy's remark, grinning at the thought. "You are so right. If it makes you feel better, the most beautiful person in the world could set the bar extremely high and you would soar over it with miles to spare." He joked, then paised with a sly smile. "Oh, wait, that couldn't happen. The most beautiful person in the world is already right here. Guess that foils my plan." He teased, chuckling a little at the thought. Even if he never got to strangle Lydia, he still had Mercy. "Well thank you. I'm glad someone thinks so." Ajax smiled. Edited at January 21, 2024 12:42 PM by Wild West Warmbloods

Mercy chuckled at him, shaking her head. "Alright, whatever you say." She scoffed, rolling her eyes playfully at his next comment. "Flattery will get you everywhere with me." She joked, propping herself up on her arm and kissing his forehead. "I'm glad I get to experience it."
