Sage heard her voice but couldn't understand what she said this time, all he could hear was the sound of her voice ... Everything else just blanded together. Everything seemed to go from going quiet to being too loud...his head hurt, and he was so, so tired. He knew that was because of blood loss and exhaustion...but he just wanted to close his eyes and let himself sleep. He knew that waking up would be an issue if he did that, though, and there was no way he'd traumatize Anya by literally dying in her arms while they were kidnapped and being held somewhere. No way that was happening. He'd push through this, or at least he hoped so. He could barely even feel her hand, and while he was still trembling, his body had given up being tense, so he was laying there limply. It wasn't a good sign, but hopefully Anya didn't know enough Edited at September 6, 2022 04:02 PM by NightClan

Anya felt herself becoming weaker by the second... she was in so much pain. She wanted to let go and collapse back onto the cold floor... and she nearly did for a moment, but that was until she felt his shoulder muscles where her hand was loosen, then the rest of his body went limp... that couldn't be a good sign. Her jerked her hand a little, trying to get some form of life out of him, but nothing. She picked herself up a little, trying harder to stop the blood... but nothing was working. She wasn't going to let him slip away, though. When she had said he was going home with her, she really meant it. She wasn't going to let him rot on the streets anymore, or get in any more fights... she was going to do what she should have done from the very start and actually protect him... keep him safe. One thing for certain, was that she wasn't going to leave this place without him... she was never going to leave him again. She felt her eyes glaze over, and a few tears started to stream again. She wanted to cry out for help, but the chances of any of the men coming were so, incredibly low. She couldn't help but feel this was all her fault... she should have never been greedy enough for that last night... maybe then Sage wouldn't be going through this, the cusp of death. Or even if last night hadn't been so... rough... then maybe Sage would have had the energy to get himself away from the men, or perhaps Anya wouldn't have been so fragile, and she might have been able to outrun them... but no. She had to let hormones get in the way. Ugh. No, she couldn't think like that. All she knew for sure was that she would have changed nothing of their last night, not for the world. They just had to figure out what they could do to keep themselves alive for now.

Sage closed his eyes for a moment before forcing them open again. Ugh, he had to get a hold of himself. Anya would be upset, the more he slipped away the worse she would get. He knew that much, and he wanted to keep her as calm as possible. He wanted to reach out, hold her hand, maybe hug her, give her a bit of comfort. But he couldn't move, even if he wanted to. And even if his hands weren't tied up, he would still have been limp by now ...that wouldn't change. He focused of just breathing...getting enough oxygen into his lungs, his body needed more than he could give it by now....but he would have to deal with his tight chest until something happened. He wasn't sure what would happen, whether it be good like a rescue or good like death. Either way, it was a win he supposed. But Anya would only see his death as a loss....he couldn't die in her presence, especially not quite literally in her arms. Ugh, why did life have to be so complicated?

Anya's breath was starting to get heavy again... working herself up, just like she thought she would. Sage was trying, although limp, he was still trying ro keep his eyes open... and that was probably the hardest part. "Come one, Sage." She whispered inwardly, not at all expecting him to hear her. She pulled him in to a hug kind of deal, trying to find a comfortable way to keep pressure on his wound, not worrying about her staining her dress anymore. Her hand was still on his shoulder, but she had shifted him so that he was leaning on her, and her hand wrapped around his back and over the back of his shoulder to keep pressure there. She then lent him back against the wall again, finding it a little easier to stop the blood flow. She heared the door crack open before glancing towards it, tears streaming down her face. It was one of the men that had nabbed her... god, she would have wanted anyone other than one of them to show up... anyone. She just held Sage a little tighter... they weren't going to hurt him, or take him away from her now. He made a disapproving clicking noise. "Having fun are we?" He cooed in a teasing tone. He had obviously referred to their earlier actions than this, as he was gesturing to the messy looking marks on the boys face and neck. God, had they knew? That sent fearful chills down her spine. "You know, I never thought our precious little princess would be so... fun... what a lucky street rat." He hissed, obviously trying to unsettle her. It was working. All she could do was tighten her grip on Sage a bury her face into his neck, almost trying to hide. "Can... can we get some water? Please?" She forced out, her breath now shaking violently... that earned her a condesending chuckle. "Why of course your highness. Your wish is my command." He laughed mockingly at her before turning around and leaving... they probably wouldn't get water, though it would be the most helpful thing she could think of as of then. She needed to find out who they were... and what they wanted. Edited at September 7, 2022 07:28 AM by Belle

Sage heard their voices swirling together... Anya's and the man who had opened the door. If he'd been able to move, or talk, or even breathe any better he would have attacked the man. But he couldn't force himself to move, not even when Anya buried her face in his neck. He was relieved when he left without doing anything, though he had probably been mocking them, trying to scare Anya, maybe into doing something. They were sure to know that the marks on his neck were from her .... What if they tried to use her for something? Or...he didn't know. He couldn't think. He really couldn't do anything. Keeping his eyes open and keeping himself gasping for air seemed almost more than he could handle. He could tell his breathing was slowing....it would probably stop soon, when his lungs gave out on him. Gosh, he hoped Anya wouldn't have to see that. He wanted her to think he was fine....though he might be fine dead, but she wouldn't see it that way.

Anya sat with her face buried in his neck for a while, almost giving up on holding into him... she herself was weakening, and the pressure on his wound was becoming lighter. Tried for a long while, just trying to keep her weight on him, but eventually, she was just sitting there, her hand just resting on his shoulder. She tried to muster up the energy a few times but it wasn't working. She was so tired, but Sage needed her more than she needed sleep. The door cracked open again and a flask was thrown in before the door shut again. Anya didn't move for a while, just listening to his breathing as it slowed.... not in a relaxing way. No. No, no, no. He had to keep on breathing, he had to keep on trying. She left him for a moment going to grab the flask, making sure there was actually water in there before scooting back over to him, softly shaking him, though trying not to hurt him in the process. "Will you try and drink something?" She murmured, her voice still very soft.

Sage forced his eyes open at the sound of her voice and tried to focus enough to see what she was holding, what she was saying. The door had opened and closed.... they'd been given something. Judging by the noise, it held some form of liquid. Water maybe? He was reluctant to drink something...he'd most likely just throw it up, and he didn't want Anya to waste her strength by trying to give him the drink. She had a better chance at surviving, she should drink it. Why was she giving it to him? He wasn't even sure if he could swallow anything. Mustering the strength for that seemed like an impossible task. And Anya was exhausted too....he could tell she was tired and struggling to stay awake. But he couldn't tell her any of that, couldn't convey anything he was thinking. She'd probably make him drink something. He knew he could use a drink, though he didn't think he could manage to actually drink something, let alone keep it down. His stomach was rolling...not only from the panic that still rolled around in his chest but also from the pain in his shoulder, which only seemed to get worse.

Anya gave him a slight groan when she got no reply... god, he must have been struggling. But she needed him to at least try and drink. If he couldn't keep it down, well then they'd figure it out when they came to it. But she wanted him to try... his breathing wasn't as strong as she would like it to be, and Anya could spare herself a while longer without trying to eat or drink... Sage, though, he wouldn't last the next few hours unless they got some sort of energy in him. "Come on Sage, you need to help yourself a little bit." She whispered, pulling the lid off the flask. She couldn't force him to drink, and she wouldn't but she could sure as hell try an convince him. "I need you to walk out of here with me. And to do that you're going to need a bit of strength... So will you try? Just a little?" she murmured quietly, knowing he would struggle to answer. All she needed was for him to either nod or shake his head, and she could except that whatever he chose... or, she'd tey to.

Sage wished he could talk....it would have made this much easier. He knew Anya wanted him to survive this...wanted him to drink something. He closed his eyes for a moment, gathering any strength he had, before opening them again and sighing. He nodded, though he wasn't sure he could do what he needed to do in order to get it down. Anya would do what she could, and he knew water would be helpful if he could keep it down. Though, right then, something to stop him from loosing more blood would be most helpful. But that wasn't going to happen so he'd give Anya a bit of hope at least.

Anya nodded again, trying her hardest to figure out how to get water down him. She supposed she could have him tilt his head up and she could pour a little at a time straight in his mouth, but she still needed to stop his bleeding as soon as she could. Her one hand wasn't enough, and even trying to move the other hurt like a bitch. She felt useless... if Anya and Sage had swapped places, she was sure that he would have everything handled. But Anya... she knew so little. She knew she had to stop the bleeding, get some water down him and his breathing back up again, but just wasn't resourceful enough for that... she could just about manage one thing at a time. And that wasn't at all helpful. She took a shallow breath, glad Sage was at least prepared to try something she lent her own shoulder against his wound, trying to stop what blood she could. That hurt too, and she cursed herself for it, but it was the best she could do to help him as of then. "Can... can you tilt your head up? We can try and get some water down you that way..." she murmured, almost in thought. After this, she would try and get someone to help. She would break that door down trying. The man that had come in hadn't been the nicest... being more interest in whatever the two had been doing prior to this than making sure they were staying put, but when she had asked for water, they were given it... that meant they were needed alive. Sage was on the cusp of death, so someone would surely come and give them a hand, even if it was just stitching him back up again.
