Sage sort of wrinkled his nose at elara, taking a note from Liz and using his hand to splash some water at the girl in response to her comment. "You don't have to point out how much of a sucker I am," he joked, attempting to keep a straight face and honestly rather failing.

Elara just laughed, flicking bubbles at him. "Kinda do, it's funny to me sometimes." She mused.

Sage just rolled his eyes at her comment, shaking his head with a slight chuckle. "You definitely do not," he huffed in mock anger, lifting a now mostly clean Liz out of the water and shooing her off to dry up before attempting to scrub the stains off of his own skin.

Elara smiled, tossing a towel at Liz. The girl stopped, tangled in it as she reached up to try and pull it off her head. The woman reached down, plucking it off before handing it to her, the girl giggling as she dried off.

Sage chuckled when Liz got wrapped up in the towel, watching her try to mess around with it and then dry off happily. "Right, now stay clean for a bit, yeah," he mused, scrubbing at the handprints shed left on his torso.

"No," The girl protested, eyeing a fresh patch of mud a bit too much. "How about you head inside, go write something." Elara suggested, the girl nodding before scurrying off.

Sage groaned when Liz protested staying clean, throwing Elara a thankful look when she mentioned practicing writing. He knew he needed to set boundaries with Liz, as to what she could do and say, but he was terrified of being too harsh. Of becoming his own father. Needless to say, she got away with a lot.

Elara looked back at him and shrugged, following Liz inside before the two sat at the table and started working on her reading and writing, getting out a few sentences.

Sage went back to scrubbing his own marks off once Elara went back inside with Liz, though he only succeeded so much, since it had dried on in some places and left marks he couldn't quite get off. He sighed, moving to check the clothes, which were still a bit damp, so he moved back into the cabin, peering over Liz's shoulder at her paper. "Looks good, hon," he mused, pressing a kiss to her head. Really he still couldn't read it, but Elara had taught him his letters at least, so there was that.

"All done," Liz said simply, hopping down from the chair before jumping up onto the bed and falling asleep. Elara watched her, looking at her paper then up at Sage. "Sit, i'll teach you some more."
