The sun hung low in the sky, casting golden streaks of light over the winding trail that cut through the dense woods. Caden’s heart pounded in his chest as he urged Ricochet forward. The chestnut stallion beneath him was a sight to behold, his muscles rippling with each powerful stride. Ricochet’s mane flew wild in the wind, like a flame trailing behind them. Caden could feel the thrum of energy beneath him, a perfect synchronization of rider and horse, a bond built from countless hours spent together. Every beat of Ricochet’s hooves was like a drum, pushing them faster, farther, as they tore through the trail. Beside him, Caden felt the presence of Rosa. He could hear the rhythmic pounding of Seven’s hooves, her stallion. The sound was slightly different, a little softer, but no less strong. Seven was a striking creature, sleek and dark, with a glossy coat that shimmered even in the fading light. Though Caden couldn’t see her face, he knew Rosa’s expression well—the way her eyes would light up whenever they were out here, riding through the woods with the wind in their faces, their bodies in motion. The path ahead opened up in a burst of sunlight, and Caden squeezed Ricochet’s sides. The stallion responded instantly, his muscles coiling like a spring before they launched forward, galloping harder. The wind whipped past them, and Caden had to lean low over Ricochet’s neck to keep his balance. The trees blurred on either side, just shadows of green and brown as they flew forward. Ahead, the trail curved and then suddenly dipped, a natural obstacle that had Caden’s heart skip a beat. Ricochet’s hooves hammered the ground in a steady rhythm, but the moment before the drop, Caden felt that familiar tension in his stomach. He nudged his heels into Ricochet’s sides, and the stallion responded with a surge of power, gathering himself for the jump. Caden’s grip tightened on the reins, but he didn’t need to worry. Ricochet had made jumps like this a hundred times before. With a powerful push, the stallion launched into the air, clearing the edge of the drop in a fluid motion. Time seemed to stretch as Caden felt the weightlessness of the jump, the rush of air past him. The world slowed, only the beating of Ricochet’s heart and the rhythm of their gallop were clear in his mind. Then, with a soft thud, Ricochet’s hooves hit the ground again, and the trail opened up once more. They were back in full motion, the pulse of the ride alive and vibrant beneath him. Caden glanced over his shoulder, catching a glimpse of Rosa just as Seven cleared the jump behind them. She was close, but never in his way—her mastery of the horse was as effortless as his own. The two of them were in sync, like they always had been when they were riding together. Caden grinned to himself, feeling the rush of adrenaline in his veins. The trail wound deeper into the woods, the trees thicker now, casting long shadows on the ground. The sun was dipping lower, the light fading, but neither Caden nor Rosa seemed to notice. The connection between rider and horse was all that mattered. The sound of hooves drumming on the earth, the wind tugging at their hair, the rustle of leaves brushing against the trees—it was a language of its own, one Caden understood with his whole body. He pressed his heels into Ricochet’s sides again, urging him into another burst of speed. They were nearing the final stretch of the trail, and Caden could feel Ricochet’s eagerness to finish strong. Rosa and Seven were right behind them, their gallop in perfect harmony. For a moment, Caden closed his eyes, just for a second, and let the world around him fade into the wind and the rhythm of the ride. It was just them—him, Rosa, and the horses—racing together through the trees, untouchable and free. Edited at November 30, 2024 11:05 PM by RFS Throughbreds

(Wow! That's very impressive writing!!!)
Rosa’s hand loosened slightly on the reins as she guided Seven to a gradual slow, the stallion’s rhythmic pounding fading into a steady, softer pace. The woods around them seemed to grow quieter, the air thick with the lingering hum of their ride. She gave a gentle nudge with her heels, coaxing Seven to a stop just behind Ricochet, where Caden still rode, his eyes alight with the same energy that had been fueling them both through the trail. The sun had dipped lower now, casting the forest in a golden glow, and the world felt as if it were holding its breath. There was a stillness in the air—just the two of them, surrounded by the cool, fading light, the horses’ breath coming in soft puffs as they cooled. Rosa felt the pounding of her own heart slow, but the rush of adrenaline hadn’t quite left her veins. She let the reins fall loose in her hands, her eyes meeting Caden’s as he turned his head slightly, a grin tugging at the corner of his mouth. Without thinking, without a word spoken, she leaned forward, her body moving fluidly with Seven’s gentle rocking as the stallion stood still beneath her. Rosa was close now, so close that she could feel the warmth of Caden’s presence, the familiar weight of his gaze on her. She let herself drift forward, heart in her throat, and pressed her lips softly against his, a kiss full of unspoken things—the exhilaration of the ride, the shared silence between them, the connection that always seemed to deepen when they were together like this. For a moment, the world shrank to the space between them. There were no more horses, no more woods, no more rushing trail. Just Caden and Rosa, lost in the quiet of the moment. When she pulled back, her breath mingling with his, a smile curled at the edges of her lips. She didn’t need to say anything. They both knew the ride wasn’t over yet, but this moment—this brief, simple thing—was hers to savor.

Caden grinned at her but before he knew it,she had pulled him into a kiss.Once she came to rest he stilled for a quiet heartbeat. He smiled as he pulled her lips back to his, wanting to enjoy the moment. The ride was'nt over yet,as Caden's nerves were still jumping.Even higher now, since he had pulled Rosa to him,not daring to let go.He finally let her go,after moments of savoring the sun falling,Rosa's lips, her smiling.Seven snorted near his ear making Caden look at him with a look on his face. "Dude,we were having a moment.Did you seriously have to ruin it?!" He joked with Seven. The stallion sighed and turned his head off into the distance once more.Caden could feel his stallion,Ricochet, become restless with wanting to continue on the trail. He pulled a hand off Rosa's back and stroked the stud. "Yeah yeah buddy, you'll be running around in the pasture later tonight." Ricochet rolled his eyes as Caden scoffed. "Shall we stay in this moment or go back to the cabin?" He had asked, barely hearing himself in the moment. His forehead rested on Rosa's,his body absorbing her warmth. His gaze was fixated on Rosa's,lips pulled into a soft grin. His hair blew in the breeze as a distant eagle cawed, causing him to look up at the birds of prey darting throught the trees.A doe walked out onto the trail, alongside her appered a fawn. "Rosa, look." Caden said in a soft, quiet voice as he pointed the pair to her.He beamed even bigger now and his mind fluttered with even more excitement.

Rosa felt the warmth of Caden's lips linger on hers, the kiss still hanging in the air as his presence surrounded her. She let herself savor the moment, feeling his heartbeat steady against her as he pulled her closer. His smile was infectious, and she couldn’t help but mirror it, her own lips curling up as he kept her near, unwilling to let go just yet. The quiet between them was perfect—nothing needed to be said. She could feel his pulse, his racing nerves, but in that shared silence, she felt something deeper settle in her chest. She almost didn't want to break the moment, but then Seven’s snort pulled her from the bubble they had created, and she laughed softly, glancing at Seven with a playful look. "He's got no respect for romance," she teased, her voice warm and light. When he asked if they should stay or head back to the cabin, Rosa felt a tug in her heart. She loved the stillness of this moment, the way time seemed to stretch out in the quiet of the forest, but she also knew how much Caden loved the cabin, the sense of home it gave him. His forehead against hers, his hair tousled by the wind, was everything she wanted. But then, his whisper broke the spell again, and her eyes followed the line of his finger. The sight of the doe and her fawn stepping gently onto the trail made her heart swell. She looked at Caden and then back at the pair, the beauty of the moment stealing her breath for a second. “Caden…” she murmured softly, her voice full of wonder. She was lost in the quiet beauty of the forest, the sense of peace that only seemed to grow as they shared it. “It’s perfect here.” She didn’t want to leave, but she also knew that whatever they chose, as long as they were together, it would feel right.

Caden stood beside her, his gaze fixed on the way the sunlight filtered through the canopy above, casting patches of gold onto the forest floor. The air was cool and fresh, scented with pine and earth. He could feel the rhythm of the forest, the subtle pulse that seemed to mirror his own heartbeat, steady and calm. It was hard to imagine wanting to be anywhere else. His fingers brushed lightly against the bark of a nearby tree, feeling the rough texture beneath his skin. The world around them was quiet, save for the soft rustle of leaves and the occasional chirp of a bird. Everything about this place seemed to breathe with life, yet it held a stillness that settled deep in his bones. He glanced down at her, his expression softening. She looked content, her eyes wide as she took in the beauty of the moment. There was something about her presence here, in this space, that felt like a perfect harmony. They didn’t need words to fill the silence. It was enough, just being here together. “I never thought it could be like this,” he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. The quiet of the forest seemed to swallow the sound, but she’d hear it all the same. His words weren’t about the forest—they were about them. About the way the world seemed to stand still when they were together, how everything else faded into the background. Caden shifted, his hand brushing the side of her arm, a gentle reassurance. He didn’t have to say much to make her understand. It was clear, in the way they moved together, in the shared glances, the quiet moments like this one. She was right. It was perfect here. But he knew the truth, too—the place didn’t matter as much as the company. And as long as they were together, he’d be content wherever they went. He took a deep breath, his heart light. “We’ll figure it out,” he said, a faint smile tugging at his lips. It would be okay.

Rosa felt the warmth of Caden's presence beside her, the steady rhythm of his breath blending with the forest's own gentle pulse. She didn’t need to turn to him to know what he was feeling. The silence between them wasn’t empty; it was filled with an unspoken understanding, a quiet certainty that wrapped around them like the cool forest air. She closed her eyes for a moment, letting the peacefulness of the moment sink in. The sunlight danced across the leaves, casting fleeting shadows on the ground, and for the first time in what felt like forever, Rosa didn’t feel the weight of uncertainty pressing down on her. There was something about this place—about being here with him—that made everything else feel distant, unimportant. The chaos of the world seemed a million miles away. When Caden spoke, his voice so soft it seemed to blend with the wind, she didn’t need him to elaborate. She understood. His words weren’t just about the forest; they were about them, about what they had, about how everything felt more real, more alive when they were together. There was no need for explanations. She simply nodded, her gaze lifting to meet his. The way his fingers brushed against her arm was enough. It wasn’t a question or a promise—it was a quiet certainty, a touch that told her everything she needed to know. And when he smiled, faint but there, she felt her heart swell with something she couldn’t quite name, but she didn’t need to. She leaned into him slightly, feeling the pull of the moment. "We will," she agreed softly, her voice barely more than a breath. There was no rush, no urgency. They’d figure it out, together. And that was all she needed to know.

(ah crap, there goes all my motivation T-T ) "Are you ready to go back?Or do you want to go to the lake here? The horses can come too,of course." Caden said, stroking his stallion gently.

Rosa glanced at the lake, its surface shimmering in the afternoon light, then back at Caden and his stallion. The thought of the open water was tempting, but she knew they had to return soon. She hesitated for a moment, weighing the options. "I’m ready to go back," she said softly, meeting his gaze. "But... I wouldn’t mind a stop by the lake for a little while first. Just a few minutes." She smiled, knowing he’d understand. "We could let the horses drink, at least."

"We have time.Could take a swim if we wanted." Caden replied as he stared into the wildnerness.
