Sage slept rather well for a while, until he started dreaming. Unfortunately, most of his dreams were nightsows. He shifted around in his sleep before jerking awake, cowering away from auinns sleeping form before crouching in the dark, heart hammering and breathing jerky as he tried to control his emotions. Not that he was having much success.

Quinn shifted and slept on for a while after Sage woke up, but then slowly woke up as the fire died down and she started shivering. She quickly raised her head as she didn't see Sage at first... but then saw him in the shadows. "Are you okay...?" Quinn asked quietly, looking worried. And cold. And worried. And cold. And she was in a loophole. Her brain didn't work at night... Quinn closed her eyes a moment and rubbed her face.

Sage practically lept out of his skin when the girl spoke up, sliding to the side, a growl rumbling in his throat before it ebbed once he realized it was just Quinn. He forced himself to crawl back over towards her, trembling slightly. "Yea," he whispered. He really wasn't....he was panicking and trying not to completely freak out. He knew flashbacks would follow if he didn't calm down...and he really hated them. But he was stuck in a loop. But he really didn't want to bother Quinn with his problems. 'go back to sleep," he managed to get out.

Quinn flinched backwards. "Obviously your not." She said grumpily, hating it when he acted like this. She did feel bad though... those nightsows must suck. He was just trembling and he looked terrified. "I'm not going back to sleep... calm down. I'm right here, nothing is going to happen, and we are out in the middle of the wilderness. The worst that would happen right now is a rabid bear will run out of the bushes and eat us." Quinn told Sage, her voice lowered and soothing. She was trying to calm him down, but had a feeling she was bad at that.

Sage winced slightly when she started grumbling, crouching lower on the rocks, a sort of apologetic whine coming from his throat. He did feel bad about waking the girl....he certainly didn't want to bother her. He'd half tuned her out, though glanced over at her when she mentioned getting eaten by a rabid bear, his expression mostly bewilderment but some shock and also a bit of heasitant amusement. But her voice did drown out some of the thoughts in his head, so after a moment, he shuffled over so he was pressed against the girl. "Keep talking," he whispered quietly, almost in an apologetic but also pleading way. He rested his head in her lap gently, trying to just keep calm.

Quinn glanced down at Sage. "Your father would never find us way out here... plus I have all my animal friends. Did you know trees could talk, too? Oaks are usually the nice ones... birch's can be sassy but kind, and aspens are usually pretty mean. The personalities can vary a lot, though, depending on the tree. I met a oak that was mean, and I met An aspen that was nicer than ever. All the animals love them, too, and they will help protect us... do you want to guess how many times I've had bears, cougars, and wolves come up to me and ask if I needed protecting? A lot..." Quinn kind of just rambled on, trying to think up stuff to say. She could talk about trees for hours... so that's why she picked that subject

Sage listened to the girl, focusing on her voice for a while, slowly calming down. It took around half an hour for him to have relaxed again, and maybe an hour later, he closed his eyes and slipped back off into sleep. He'd have to remember to thank Quinn the next morning...she'd definitely helped him out, quite a bit tonight. He still felt bad about waking her up, and keeping her up for so long, though.

When Sage fell asleep Quinn felt relieved. She had tried her best... but she just wasn't the best at calming people down. Quinn leaned back against the tree stump and thought. She knew how horrible nightsows could be... and she understood. Poor Sage. Quinn stared out at the forest, hoping she could get to sleep soon.

Sage slept rather late, since he'd woken up through the night, and dragged himself from Quinn's lap to crawl over a bit so he could look out of the cave entrence and down at the horses. He settled there with a soft sigh. Chaos and Sahara were grazing together, which admittedly made him feel a bit lonely. He liked Quinn, but it just didn't seem like they were 'in love'. The only times she's kissed him were jokes, or after a dare to surprise him with something like that. He wished they could grow together a bit more.

Quinn woke slowly. The first thing she noticed... Sage was gone again. The second.. she had actually fallen asleep. That was a relief. She opened her eyes and glanced around, seeing Sage at the cave entrance. "Good morning... how did you sleep... afterward?" Quinn asked slowly, trying to word it more carefully. He stretched out her arms and walked over, sitting down beside Sage again. He looked like he was thinking... about what? Quinn tried to force herself not to use her mind reading powers... I think wasn't fair she couldn't turn them off. Oh.. he was thinking about her. That was good, right? Or bad...? Had she done something wrong? Was he angry at her? Was it because of last night? Quinn wanted to slap her mind, it went way too fast and she just wished she could shut her brain down. For one day, just think about.. nothing. Silence. But no, it was racing around with thoughts.
