Neveah

⋆⁺。˚⋆˙‧₊☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆

Neveah observed quietly as Aurelius wandered around the basement, frowning whenever he passed something she considered grotesque despite everything she had seen as a vampire hunter. The scientists that had worked here had been the worst of the worst, dabbling with certain aspects that even she would never cross the line for; she wondered if these scientists had been the ones that plotted the poisoning of human blood, which she was still surprised she had been completely unaware of until a few days ago. Her azure eyes drifted towards the abandoned body that lay on one of the tables, abandoning Faust`s side to examine it. She felt a little sad to see the body left in such a sorrowful, depressing state, so much so that she found herself contemplating whether or not she should cremate it; no one deserved to be left like that, even a vampire. Her focus shifted when she heard Aurelius` voice, lifting her head to observe him as he looked at a microscope. Faust was being eerily silent from where he stood, but she knew if Aurelius got to close to her that he would resort to something- anything- to separate them.

``I wish they would have at least cleaned up before leaving,`` Neveah replied to his words, moving to stand a respectable distance from him to avoid Faust growing even more agitated. She folded her arms across her chest as a stray breeze swept through the room, causing her to shiver due to the cold. It was moments like these that she wondered how vampires felt knowing they were immune to practically everything that affected humans, the cold an example. Briefly, she met his gaze before looking elsewhere, thinking to herself. ``There were a few things that were done down here that even I disagreed with.. Things that were far too.. twisted in nature.``

She wandered back to Faust`s side, who promptly sidled up to her and ensured they were touching in one way or another. Her gaze remained fixed on the lab notes spread across the table, stiffening when she felt the vampire`s breath on her neck again. Neveah could picture exactly what was going on in Faust`s head right now: the memories from the past that they explicitly shared, the pain and torment he had caused her and vise versa. She really would do absolutely anything to get Faust off of her back, but she knew his attatchment ran deep, something that would take ages to eradicate if it even was possible to do so. His voice, low and threatening, was what made her shift away from him, desperate for distance: ``I want him gone.``

Neveah moved until she was across from him instead, meeting his intense stare. Her response was a simple shake of her head as she resumed looking over the notes, searching for any twisted ideas the scoentists had created that she could potentially use. Faust was clearly oblivious to the fact that she would much rather prefer Aurelius` far less intense and more.. gentle- not the best word, but it would suffice- presence compared to his own. She felt as if she did not have to worry about what Aurelius was thinking of doing with her, as if he would let her leave the moment she was finished with her task. The way he had been so angry earlier when he had seen Faust, however, was what made her hesitant to say she was confident in her thoughts. Would Aurelius let her go or keep her similarly to what Faust had done? Did he view her as a hunter that would become his pet later down the road or a mere human? Those were all questions she would probably never know the answers to.

(Feel free to do whatever with Faust, by the way, ^^ And yeah, they`re so cute, >3<)

The violence humans had in their nature intrigued him. They had a deep found hate for anything they didn't understand and it was apparent in this basement.

Aurelius turned slightly to see that Neveah was behind him. He didn't need to turn and look to see that Faust would be watching her every move.

"They just abandoned this place? Why?" Aurelius asked curiously. He was surprised to learn that she didn't agree with whatever these humans had done but the papers tacked to her wall upstairs said otherwise.

His cloak swept the dust at the floor, as he moved forward examining everything laid out. Neveah passed him back to Faust's side, like a dog called to heel. He grimaced at the sight. A hunter, as notrious as her shouldn't be bound to any vampire like this. It was unnatural. Yet again, just being in her presence was unnatural, she could have laid traps or doing something by now.

He chuckled lightly, the basement. It was just as the cell had been, except they were trapped here until nightfall. Ruled by their captor, the sun.

His gaze flicked menacingly at Faust. He growled "Intimidated, are we?" He taunted, turning to him fully, letting his cloak swish, opening to reveal the slight muscle of his arms, he flexed, inviting him to attack him, should he dare.

Neveah moved and shook her head at Faust, looking at the papers, sprawled out on the desks. "Didn't realise your blood bag had you walking around on a leash" He sneered, trying to provoke some kind of response.

Faust finally snapped, lurching towards him, fangs out, snarling at him. Aurelius moved to block the attack, swinging him round into a headlock. Very quickly overpowering him. He growled, struggling in his grip. Aurelius chuckled looking at Neveah, a sense of pride flashed on his features. He wanted everyone here to know, who was really in charge, whether they liked it not.

This was in fact powerplay. Determining who was going to be the alpha and the beta, yet they weren't werewolves.

Aurelius choked him and he gagged, spit flying everywhere, before throwing him out of his grip. Faust scrambled away, gripping his neck, breathing heavily. As he did so, Aurelius looked down and picked off a cobweb from his sleeve, as if nothing had happened and what had just transpired was no effort at all. His cloak swayed heavily now, in the scuffle, but it scurfed across the floor settling gently behind him once more.

"Prick" Faust hoarsed out at him.

He didn't need to say anything more. Satisfied with the commotion. "Thank you Neveah, this will be everything we need for the day" He raised her gaze to meet hers, ignoring Faust completely.

Neveah

⋆⁺。˚⋆˙‧₊☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆

``They were simply summoned elsewhere,`` Neveah replied as she lifted her chin and peered over her shoulder towards Aurelius, promptly refocusing on the papers scattered before her again. Her words had been a half-truth since the other half was something neither Faust nor Aurelius needed to know for the time being. Truth be told, the scientists had moved from this sanctuary- the southeast one- to the northwest one, camping out there and continuing their schemes in the solitude that other twisted minds shared. There were quite a few things that had been documented on the documents in front of her that she had never thought of, yet she refused to even consider bringing them to life; some things were truly meant to be left alone and left to one`s imagination. She examined the ones that contained numerous recipies for poisons that could easily be transformed into gases, something she had used before yet not these specific concoctions.

Neveah shifted her focus onto Aurelius when he started speaking again, but his purpose was painfully obvious to her: infuriate and engender Faust to do something he would regret. She could not help but feel offended when Aurelius referred to her as a blood bag- the term being one she would never tolerate- and nearly retorted that she was no longer such a thing. Her gaze shifted onto Faust mere moments prior he launched himself at Aurelius, forcing her to watch with wide eyes as they got into a tussle. She could tell precisely what the royal was declaring as he held Faust within his grip, but she thought it was unneccessary and a tad.. stupid. There were far better ways to be assertive than this, so she rolled her eyes and looked back down at the papers. It was almost as if she were dealing with two out-of-control children, but extremely dangerous ones that could kill her if she made one wrong move.

She stiffened when Aurelius addressed her, leading to her lifting her head and meeting his intense gaze. With a brief glance at the seething Faust, she mumbled a quiet ``You`re welcome`` before looking down again. Truth be told, she wanted to know what was going on in Aurelius` head, especially when he was the one that determined what happened to her, not Faust. She even found herself wondering what he thought of her, if he had a similar perspective as Faust. The thought made her feel sick, yet she managed to shove the feelings away as she took a step to the side to allow the vampires to take a look at the papers themselves. There was not anything that stuck out to her, but, since they knew precisely what would work best against their kind, she knew it would be best if they had a look as well.

Faust was beyond pissed at this rate, hair tossled and breathing labored as he glared intensely at Aurelius and his comments. He refused to let this.. pathetic prince take Neveah from him, yet he had a hunch that he had already lost her, which was what made him the angriest. When she stepped away from the table that was littered with documents, he took the hint and stepped forward, regaining his composure slightly as he started to look them over himself. He had been serious when he had told her to get rid of Aurelius and, the fact that she had denied him of all people, made him want to tear into her throat like he had done all those years ago. However, he could not do something like that.. not yet, anyways. It was far too early to break her all over again.

Aurelius made no attempt to move, he didn't even step forward to acknowledge Neveah had moved away from the papers that had littered the desk. He'd decided to see what Faust was capable of, since he hadn't seen him in what felt like...years. He ignored the fact that it made him look even more like a prick at not wanting to be beside Faust, especially when he had just humiliated the guy.

He swung his gaze back to Neveah. He found himself staring at her longer than usual, the way her hair highlighted her pretty facial features that he never noticed before. Not fully anyway. He blinked turning away before he could ignite Faust's rage again. He would have to do something about that but not yet.

Relieved to hear the scientists no longer operated in this region but he made a mental note of their location. One for his men to set about to exterminate or give them fodder. He would have to address it with the council once he got back.

He twiddled his thumbs looking around further, his eyes settled on the chains in the cells. Exactly where Faust ought to be, he amused himself.

"Anything?" His voice cracked with a light tone of impatience at Faust's reading of the papers. He wouldn't have thought anything would be fashionable enough for Carmilla. Just a traditional stake to the heart would do. Besides, gases and poisons may not work well, especially if he knew what she was like. They would quickly be at a disadvantage. Hell, this already felt like a disadvantge, as he eyes Faust again.

He tried to think back to when he and Carmilla were 'dating', if that were such a thing in the vampire world. He briefly closed his eyes. His hands through her hair, those soft lips, those perky breasts. He shook his head, trying to wipe away the memory. He did remember she was as crazy as he was back then. Out of night partying, running back at the crack of dawn, almost getting cindered at times. The drugs, the making out with supernatural beings. All of it. All of it was her, he realised. He opened his eyes.

"I think I know where she could be" His gaze focused in on the pair of them. "The circus".

Neveah

⋆⁺。˚⋆˙‧₊☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆

``Nothing seems worthy enough to try,`` Faust replied in a low, gravelly voice as he lifted his chin to glare at Aurelius, causing Neveah to glance between them once again. It was rather unfortunate that all of this careful research- which had been mostly on her behalf- had proved to yield absolutely nothing fruitful. She frowned as she leaned againsst the wall quietly, desperately trying to think of something.. anything, for that matter. Neveah knew that she would have to be the one to kill Carmilla since she was the only one allowed to; the law about vampires being unable to kill other vampires resonating within her mind. Based on the interaction between Faust and Aurelius, it seemed like there was nothing against attacking each other, however.

Neveah was slowly realizing how much of a fool she had been to even believe that she could overpower a vampire, even with the assitance of the inventions and weapons she had requested over time. There would always be that physical strength difference along with the colossal gap in combat experience, which the combination practically screamed that she could die the moment Carmilla so much as looked at her. It made her feel completely useless, more so than usual; she wondered why Aurelius had been so eager and willing to let her go- kind of- in order for her to carry out his command even though she had barely stood a chance against Seb. Her thoughts were interrupted when Aurelius` familiar voice resonated to her left, causing her to shake her head in dismissal and look over at him.

``Circus?`` she repeated with a confused expression, clearly believing that the rumors of its existence were completely made-up and false. The mere idea of there being such a hotspot was bewildering to her and she had never dared once to try and figure out where it was and what it was like. It was rare for any human to make it out of there alive, usually being dragged away by a monster that decided they were theirs and theirs alone. Faust seemed to be amused at the idea of going there, his gaze darting towards Neveah briefly; there was that familiar wicked glint in his eye, the same one he usually had when he came up with another torturous idea to corrupt her with.

``Are you sure that`s the best idea?`` Faust inquired as he shifted his focus onto the royal before him, eyes narrowing. He knew what could potentially happen if anyone recognized Neveah there, even he knew it was risky. It was apparent he wanted nothing terrible to happen to her, but even Aurelius should have been aware of the risks associated with bringing any mortal there. Besides, he knew that Aurelius needed her as much as he did, even if it was in completely different contexts and scenarios.

Aurelius eyes bored into Faust. He didn't say anything. He knew the risks. Humans only went during the day, to what was otherwise and ordinary circus. But at night... That's when all the monsters came out to play.

He grinned. The doubt and concern on their faces. "We shall go this evening" He said his tone not forgiving. Nothing was going to change his mind.

--

Evening came. He was unsure how he managed the entire day, trapped in the basement with Faust. He was sure he would have strangled him by now.

Aurelius had asked Neveah to change into some clean clothes. Something that looked like they were going to a night club of sorts, but he knew he needed to do it out of necessity, the order could very well save her life depending on how this evening turned out.

He looked over at Faust, noticing he was wearing a jacket. "You" He pointed to him and then her. "Give her the jacket" He said. "She'll smell less like a human" His expression showing his grievances at the gesture but it was the only way to keep her safe. "And...Stay by herside, until we get close" He hated saying it. Foul in his mouth.

The entryway of the stairs had darkened, telling him the sun had set. "Time to go" He ordered, leading the way up.

He turned back towards the door, hopefully grateful at never seeing this place again. The stench of hunters was overpowering, even for him. The whole building could be torn down for all he cared.

He stepped outside, the fresh air a welcome distraction to being trapped in the musky old basement all day. His men would be worried but alas, he was determined and focus on getting to the circus.

Turning on his heel he lead the way.

The air was fresh, this evening, frightly chilly but the stars were shining. Not for them though. Not for what they were about to do.

Aurelius could feel a pit of anxiety opening up in the hollow of his stomach. She had made him feel this way he realised but he relished the thought that in a few hours, she would be dead.

He marched ahead, glancing back to see Faust unnervingly close to Neveah. She almost looked uncomfortable with his presence, especially in that outfit.

They approached the park, the eerie glow from the lamps lit the way once again. The giant red tent a stark contrast again the shadows and darkness surrounding it.

Upon approach the flaps folded backwards like before. Aurelius headed in first to be greeted by Rhi. The girl from the other night. He devishly smiled appeared on his lips but it was met with a cold distant gaze and a pursed lip. Alarm bells where ringing at her unfriendly nature compared to the other night. Her eyes red, as if she had been crying. Holes now appeared in her fish tights.

She made no move to show them in further. Aurelius glanced a warning to Faust and Neveah. He moved round the corner and gasped. Audibly gasped.

They were greeted with red. So much red.

Bodies littered the ground. Some contorted at weird angles, their limbs facing different directions. Others were missing actual body parts.

It was a massacre. Humans. Butchered.

Aurelius looked ahead of him now. Carmilla stood in the centre, waiting. Dress in the same outfit as Rhi. Her red hair glowing the spotlight cascading down over her chest and down her back. He growled.

"Just in time..." She raised a finger to her mouth, red with blood, sucking on it.

Neveah

⋆⁺。˚⋆˙‧₊☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆

Neveah did not appreciate the outfit Aurelius had made her wear, but the intonation of his voice had been more than enough to persuade her that it had been out of neccessity. She glared at Faust, who gladly returned it with akin intensity, as he draped her in the jacket he had been wearing, the stench of his familair cologne filling her nostrils; it was apparent that Faust found the sight a little amusing, as if it were a feat he had accomplished beneath Aurelius` nose. She was quiet the entire time they walked, occassionally telling Faust to give her more space since he was practically walking all over her. The majority of the way there he had ensured he was touching her in some way, an indication that he still viewed her as his property. When the circus came into view, she found herself stunned and utterly confused that she had somehow never stumbled across it, as if she were supposed to never have seen it prior to this moment.

As they walked past the unfamiliar woman, Neveah looked her over with an almost pitiful expression, clearly unaware of who and what she was. On the other hand, Faust reached out and wrapped a protective arm around her and dragged her closer, sensing something before she could. The first thing she had noticed/heard was Aurelius` audible gasp and the way he seemed to freeze in place, which was promptly followed by a growl of distaste from Faust. Thanks to the male vampire`s position, she had to push past him slightly to finally see what had unsettled both of them. Words could not describe the amount of fear, hatred, and sadness that washed over the moment she saw the massacre that seemed to stretch on forever. There were so many bodies.. far too many to count and, based on their reactions, they were humans.

Neveah`s gaze continued to travel before it landed on the source of it all: Carmilla. Her eyes fixated on the finger she was sucking on, the blood cascading smoothly from its tip. She was horrified; this was something she had never seen before regarding the intensity and severity of vampire attacks on groups of humans. It was incredibly difficult to make her feel as scared as she was right now and, although he could sense it, Faust had let her go and left her without any form of reassurance; it was to be expected anyways. With the amount of bodies and blood, she knew that Carmilla was definitely at her strongest right now, which meant the possibility of her defeating the vampire was quite literally impossible. She glanced up at Aurelius, searching his gaze for an idea of what he was thinking. Besides, she could not really do anything without his permission.

Carmilla studied the three of them. A wicked grin spread across her lips.

"Care for a drink?" She said waving a hand around to the plethora of bodies.

Aurelius growled. "I always knew you were crazy" He stepped closer to her, narrowly avoiding a nearby body that was twisted in unnatural ways.

"Come Aurelius..." She said taunting. "Can't you see? We were supposed to rule them. Look how weak they are" She gestured again, her green eyes blazing. She chuckled menacingly, horrifyingly sweet and piercing Aurelius through his core.

"No. It's already been agreed that we were to correct the damage caused more than five hundred years ago" He raised his voice at her, slowly navigating the obstacle of bodies that littered the floor. Blood had soaked into the carpets, making it slippery under foot.

Carmilla growled silencing him. "It's not just about the vampires. The supernatural world has had enough, hiding in the shadows" She raised her voice practically screaming at him "Treated like second class citizens, even under vampires".

As she spoke, supernatural beings, from everything werewolves to Jinn miraculously appeared, surrounding them, some taking the place in amongst the chairs that had now been scattered, the damaged band stand that surrounded the main ring and centre stage.

Aurelius growled, eyeing his surroundings, they were becoming vastly outnumbered. "I know you wanted change Aurelius. This is it. Let society fall and rise up to settle itself as it will" Carmilla spoke softly now, approaching him. His breath hitched in his throat, the way she stalked towards him, her curls bounced. Her green eyes unwavering from him.

Once she was close enough, she reached up, her delicate hand, smeared in blood, reached out to Aurelius' face with the softest touch. "You could do it with me...by my side".

She circled him, grabbing his cloak in an attempt of mockery. His position, a joke, really.

"The vampire ways are stuck in tradition" She leaned in close whispering in his ear. Her hair gently carcessing his shoulder.

"You could be the ruler of change" Aurelius growled. "Enough" He said quietly. Carmilla continued, eyeing Neveah and Faust.

"Faust, my dear friend" Carmilla spoke to him, standing next to Aurelius, his back turned to him. "Do you not wish for change? Do you not think it unfair how you've been treated" Carmilla's eyes looked Neveah up and down, her green eyes flashing with recognition. A sadistic grin appeared once more. She whipped her head to Aurelius, grabbing his head, pulling him in close and whispered "You brought the hunter" She smiled at him.

Aurelius struggled in her grip. She was strong. He couldn't let there be a sign of weakness. Not now. In front of all these supernatural beings. He wasn't sure what she had said to convince them but this was the pinnacle of what had been brewing over the last few weeks.

He growled at her, punching her in the throat, making her stumble back a step. "You crazy bitch..."

Neveah

⋆⁺。˚⋆˙‧₊☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆

The scene that seemed to stretch on for miles for her due to the slight haze she was in, her gaze having been drawn towards Carmilla as she stalked closer. Neveah knew that she could not allow herself to become distracted at any minuscule or colossal aspect at this very moment, but she could not process the sheer amount of mutilated corpses that were scattered over every inch of the tent`s flooring. Eventually, she managed to turn her head from the scene that was now engraved into her memory to observe the interaction unfolding between the two vampires. Truth be told, Neveah and the entirety of humankind had been mostly- not completely- unaware of the diverse population of monsters/creatures that thrived in the dark, which was precisely why she could not help but to take a few steps back when she saw all of them creeping from the shadows. She could tell they had no chance of making it out of here unharmed; the thought made her look over at Aurelius again, internally desperate for any kind of plan. Neveah stiffened when she addressed Faust, the idea of him even considering joining them hurting her the smallest bit; it would be painful for anyone to realize that a relationship- no matter how twisted it was- had simply been for the sake of fun and constant demeaning, brewing with cruelty that was designed to destroy from the inside out.

Neveah truly did not understand why Carmilla had orchestrated all of this, especially when most of the monsters out there had seemed content with the way things had been unfolding. The loss of humans and their own kinds were on somewhat equal footing, an indication that they had found some kind of equilibrium that did not need to be skewed. She needed to do something- absolutely anything- to try and make it possible for them to make it out of this alive, no matter how injured they were at the end. Her eyes widened at the sight of Aurelius struggling against the female, relaxing when he managed to roughly shove her away. At that moment, Carmilla looked stunned and a little surprised by the sudden movement from him, leading to Neveah taking the opportunity to reach for the silver dagger concealed on her person and taking a step forward.

The following events had all happened in a flash, resulting in something she had never expected to occur. Within seconds, Faust had launched towards her and roughly grabbed the hand she had been reaching her weapon with, dragging her until she was pressed against his chest. The sheer amount of strength that Faust was using at that moment was a colossal indicator of one thing: he was siding with Carmilla. She could only writhe in his grasp as he ripped the dagger from her and tossed it aside, moving his free hand so that it was suffocating her neck in a vice grip. Neveah felt that familiar sense of helplessness and unbridled fear build up in the pit of her stomach as Faust tilted her chin, his dark eyes glimmering with that familiar twisted amusement. His fangs were on full display, the threat painfully clear.

``You`ve done enough damage, Nev,`` Faust growled into her ear, the sensation of his breath trickling all over the side of her neck making her quiver. She knew she could not beat Faust, no matter how hard she had tried. All those years ago, it had been the mind game that she had won, but this.. this was about physical strength, which Faust clearly had the advantage over. She tried to speak yet that only led to him tightening his grip, causing her to choke on air.

Carmilla straightened herself, removing her hand from her throat. She smiled wickedly as Faust moved to apprehend the hunter. "You weren't fooling anyone" She said. Aurelius turned to see Neveah now within Faust's unrelenting grasp. The fear in her eyes. "I should have killed you when I hand the chance" Her snarled at Faust.

He moved towards her but a cold silver blade flashed in front of his face. Carmilla wrapped her arms around him, a blade to his throat. "You're mine" She snarled in his ear. Aurelius growled, trapped.

As if by fate, guns sounded in the distance. Aurelius looked up, Carmilla crouching behind him, using him as a shield. The supernatural beings dispersed at the sound, most of them shrinking back with fear.

The tension in the air mounted, as the beings scrambled away, just as Aurelius' men entered the tent. Seb saw Faust, his back to him and shot him in the back. Releasing his grip on Neveah and collasping to the floor. Blood spilling out of his mouth. A slight relief washed over Aurelius at the sight of his men but then remembered that Carmilla was holding him hostage. If anything he knew she wasn't about to give up so easily.

Carmilla growled, flicking her gaze to the men that now approached. She stepped backwards, keeping the cool blade to Aurelius throat. She pulled them backwards through the curtain behind the main stage. She released him and pointed the dagger at him.

"Carmilla put the..." "Shut up!" She screamed at him "You and your entire line are bunch of vampire filth with no vision" She spat out, venom lacing everyword. "If you won't join me willing, I will just have to make you," Aurelius looked at her confused raising his hands, stepping backwards. That's when he felt it. A cold pinch. He looked down and a dart jutted out of his tunic. He collasped to his knees, the wood thudding underneath his weight. He raised his gaze at Carmilla "What have you done?" He asked, his vision blurrying, he could make out the gun that had appeared in her hand. "I'm starting a war." She said as he blacked out.

Aurelius groaned as he came to. Lights flashing. He blinked his eyes open slowly, his vision improving. He looked around, the slight jingle of equipment bumped along with him as he realised they were moving. The lights were streaking past from a window, running across the solid metal floor, up and across his face. He grimaced at the bright lights of the street lamps as they met with his eyes. "Ugh" He tried to move to find his hands in handcuffs, wrapped round a metal shelving unit that had been secured into the floor.

Carmilla was now nowhere to be seen. It was just him, alone, in the back of what appeared to be a circus van.

The costumes and various equipment swaying gently with the vans movements.

Aurelius rested his head backwards, a light thud on the metal. He sighed. He glanced downwards the dart had gone now. The cold feeling still pulsed in his veins. A slight throb appeared at his temple.

This was a highly embarrasing situation indeed. A prince, kidnapped by a fucking pyscho. He grunted. Shifting his weight to try and get comfortable as his hands pulled back gently against the restraints.

He didn't know how long it had been or how long he'd even passed out. He briefly closed his eyes, praying that they didn't drive until the sun was up, for he would sure get burned with the way the light was filtering in the window.

He sighed, shifting once more. He turned to think of his mother, closing his eyes for a while.
